The Codeforces round #359 for both divisions will happen on 23 June at 7:35 PM MSK. We have been choosing and solving problems for a long time and we hope that they will seem quite interesting.
All of the problems were created under guidance of [user:Endagorion,2016-06-20] (Mikhail Tikhomirov) by Moscow high school graduates: [user:cdkrot,2016-06-20] (Dmitry Sayutin), [user:ch_egor,2016-06-20] (Egor Chunaev), [user:themikemikovi4,2016-06-20] (Mikhail Sorokin) and me. It is our second Codeforces Div.1 + Div.2 round.

A story about the worst contest organization ever. Or how to invent rules to have rules. Today, the European Championship was held in Prague. The first of its kind. And it was... the worst organized contest I have ever participated in. This is not only sad in isolation but also especially sad as the contest itself (the problems) was actually nice, and I would like to thank the authors for that!
So what was so bad about it?
Let me describe how entering the contest works. One first goes to the cloakroom. Then, one proceeds via a long corridor to another building, where in a relatively small space, all teams gather for half an hour. Then, "id check" begins. I mean... I believe in semi-automated learning of programming through problem solving. There are clear advantages of this approach: independence of practice from the teacher, good testing of solutions, clear milestones for students, ability of the approach to scale.

I Was Tired of Opening 5 Tabs Every Time I Solved a Problem Hello everyone.
Over the last few years, my competitive programming workflow slowly became ridiculous.
A typical solving session looked something like this:
- Codeforces problem page
- Submit page
- Custom Invocation page
- VS Code
- Notion / Google Docs / notebook for notes
- Sometimes another tab to track progress
By the time I was actually solving the problem, half my attention was already spent switching between tabs.
Even worse, I kept running into the same issue:
I would solve a problem, learn something useful, promise myself I'd remember it, and then completely forget it a few weeks later.

My Uninspirational Story from Pupil to Candidate Master Since everyone's sharing their journeys in cp, I thought I might as well. Hope you don't find it relatable. Here is the timeline of my journey.
- Got exposed to programming when I was a kid. Had all the resources and guidance I needed to start. Doing nothing was much more appealing back then.

When I started my CP journey I enjoyed it so much. Day by day my interest in CP decreased because I was not enough consistent. Despite that, I carried on in CP with my inconsistency. As the last ICPC contest in the Asia-East continent, the participators of EC-final are advanced from several regionals based on their outstanding performance. 2019 ICPC Asia-East Continent Final ended on 15 Dec 2019, hosted by Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, Shannxi Province, China. Struggling with Solving C Problem (Div 2) Hi everyone,
I'm currently trying to improve my competitive programming skills and would appreciate some guidance. Here's a summary of my situation:
**Current Progress:**
- I solved more than 150 problems in Leetcode and very familiar with data structure and algorithms (In Leetcode Weekly contest, I can easily solve 3 problems out of 4).
- I regularly participate in Codeforces contests.

Petition to enable viewing of a particular testcase on which the code fails!! I was recently solving a 1400 rated problem : [problem:1697C]. The logic was pretty clear and i had implemented a simple solution [submission:242716746]. The code ended up failing at the 2000th input of testcase 2 and I have no idea why. I tried coming up with all possible testcases I could think of but of no help. As I already came up with the logic mentioned in the editorials, I am left helpless as only possible solution left is to look at other successful submissions but it doesn't really help my cause.

I received a plagiarism notification for my submission for problem 2112B in Educational Codeforces Round 180 (Rated for Div. 2), citing similarity with another user's submission.
All my submissions from A to D were skipped.

The problem was very simple and straightforward, with a fixed structure leading to only three possible outputs: 0, 1 or -1, based entirely on a few if-else conditions (I solved it 12 minutes into the contest). Given the deterministic logic and limited number of valid approaches, there is a high probability of multiple users arriving at very similar code independently.

When I need to stress-test a problem on trees, I usually find a random tree like this:

But I remember watching an [user:Errichto,2019-10-21] stream(I think it's the AtCoder DP contest one) where he showed how he stress tests and then said that the previous method only prints **a specific kind of trees**, and that he recommends using Prüfer Sequences. I kept thinking about why that's true but found no answer online.

To summarize, what I did was to identify what are the integers that all friends who listed what numbers their like, are in common. So, if 5 friends with a set of integers A, B, C, D, E look for the intersection of A, B, C, D & E. Finally, since the rest of friends just mentioned what numbers their hate (assuming what they did not mention are numbers they like), I just remove all integeres that were listed as 'hated' from the intersection of sets I had.
So my final answer ended up being something like |U| — |H|, where U is the set resulting from Union of the intersection of all integers listed as 'liked' and all integers listed as 'hated' and H is the set of hated integers (here all items 'liked' but 'hated' by others will be not taken into account).

I reached Pupil, Need guidance for Specialist After solving 500+ problems on Codeforces and 1000+ across all platforms, I’ve finally reached Pupil.
It took me 37 contests to achieve this milestone.
To be honest, I’ve often seen people reach this milestone much faster. sometimes after solving just a handful of problems. That used to push me into self-doubt: Am I learning CP the wrong way? Is my practice approach flawed?

I got an offer from Google for the SWE L3 role. I am a new grad who is from a non-CS background and am about to graduate.

I've been working on a problem involving weighted directed graphs and could use some help. The problem is as follows:
### Problem Statement:
I have a weighted directed graph which may or may not contain cycles, and it can have multiple cycles. The nodes are 1-based indexed. I need to create an array cycleSum of size equal to the number of nodes. For each node i, cycleSum[i] should contain the sum of the weights of the smallest cycle in which node i is a part of. If a node is not part of any cycle, cycleSum[i] should be -1. If a node is part of multiple cycles, the array should contain the sum of weights of the cycle with the minimum sum. Example:

Petrozavodsk Winter Camp 2017 or Barcelona Boot Camp? Hello!
My team and I are preparing for the ACM ICPC world finals. There are two ICPC preparation camps this winter, roughly around the same time: The camp at [Petrozavodsk](https://vk.com/camp_acm_petrsu), and a training camp at [Barcelona](http://in.harbour.space/icpc/)
We had it in our minds to go to Petrozavodsk. We really enjoy the problems that come out of that camp. But this camp in Barcelona seems interesting as well, and seems to also be under the guidance of big names in the competitive programming community.

CHelper Issues Hello,
I am unfortunately having some issues with the CHelper plugin.
I downloaded it and got it to work completely. I then wrote my own Reader class to use as its input class, after which it still worked.
However, after I closed IDEA and reopened it, it has completely stopped working. I can still add new problems and parse them from online, and the tests show up, but when I run the program, absolutely nothing happens.
I also got this IDE error, but I don't know if it's related to my issue, because I got the same IDE error when CHelper was working for me.

How to avoid Unsuccessful Hacks? Today was my first time participating in open hacking phase. I tried & lost 50 points for an Unsuccessful Hacking Attempt. Need Guidance Sorry to bother you with an annoying question!
I have been practicing question at 1500 rating range and i encounter many ad-hoc, greedy problems.
Many a times i spend hours(at most 2 btw) on a question and i am not able to solve it.Since the question was greedy
i sometimes feel i wasted a lot of time as i am not sure if i'll ever get to use what i learnt in the question again.
**So i am in dilemma if i should practice questions topicwise like from CSES or continue my current strategy of solving around 30-35 questions of each rating or until i feel comfortable in that range.**
Also should i go on a limb and do like 100 div D problems to try to get to expert in a month since i almost have a month long break from uni?

I am learning this relatively new data structure with a Kattis problem called Palindromes. In this problem, we are given a string and multiple [l, r] segments and must find the number of palindromic substrings in each segment. The number of queries and length of the string are all 10^5. My question is: Is it possible to achieve this with Palindromic Tree and if yes, how can we do that?

Some guidance? This is my submission for problem D in CodeForces Educational Round 90 : [submission:85049220 ]
I used a maximum subarray approach. I took the difference between odd and even parity consecutive elements (gain in sum per pair) and stored them in a new array. After that I used maximum subarray on my new array and added that to sum of even numbers(initially). Pairs can be formed in two ways (0-1, 2-3, 4-5,... & 1-2, 3-4, 5-6,...); took care of that in two cases. Max subarray sum can be negative; took care of that too.
As you can see, the submission got WA in test case 3. And the test case is too big for me to understand the error. Can someone help in pointing out the mistake? Or give a small test case where my code would give a wrong answer?

I am fairly new to the Competitive Programming journey, solving problems for little over a month.
**A gist background** : I enrolled in a boot-camp for DS and Algorithms, learnt the tricks and methodology, but was overwhelmed for a large portion of the course. I have an overview of it and some basic understanding, but that's about it. After completing the course, I switched over to Codeforces, Codechef and some other online CP sites.
I have been solving problems for a month now, sorted according to ratings, i.e. 400-700 and lately some of the problems with 800.

I recently encountered an issue where one of my submissions for problem 2085A of contest Round 1011 (Div. 2) was flagged for plagiarism. The message stated that my solution 311848281 significantly coincided with other submissions, leading to a potential rules violation.

Guidance!! How to improve means from last month Iam practicing the 1500-1700 problems half of times Iam able to come up with solution, but I take at least 40-70 minutes for it and after solving it seems I can do it faster as if Iam observing some non-relevant things.
or my combining power of observations to algo was slow.
Second problem is that it is not easy to shift from algo or method that I come up with to another sometimes majorly for greedy ones and after I solve it and see other people solution they have used the same observation more efficiently for implementation. That looks so good as if they are doing it very easily.

Can someone PLEASE help me out for upskilling myself iafter these contests ? Hi ! to whoever is reading this . I know this is another post crying out for some help to reach Pupil or Grandmaster but please , I really need some guidance . I had been practising CP from last 1.5 years on various platforms ( CP , not DSA or core concepts ) and initially I could solve Div 2A , 2B in half and hour and 2C after the Contest :( but I was never admant to reach an appreciable level on the platform.

Database model for an online judge Hello, since the end of 2017 I am working in an online judge for my university. The judge is directed to a basic programming course in Python where each semester about 1200 students take the course. The judge was launched 8 months ago and today we have 1542 registered students.
The next step that I would like to give is to give the possibility of creating contests. Currently the judge only has problems that I raise periodically.
I passed a database course, but I need more specific guidance. For example, the scoreboard model. If the contest will be saved in the database I would like the access to be fast to access any scoreboard. I have an idea and it consists of saving each scoreboard in a new table for the database, but I do not know if it is consistent over time.
The online judge is developed using pure php and mysql. The database is relational.
