### Why I’m writing this
Six years ago someone asked me [here](https://codeforces.me/blog/entry/45186?#comment-297837) to write my story. I think it can help you to never give up.
### A brief about me
I've been doing competitive programming for ten years. I advanced to ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contests) World Finals twice, in 2019 at Porto and 2020 at Moscow. At ICPC World Finals 2020, our team took high-honored place twenty-four, which is equal to the top 0.03% of 200k students participating in ICPC.

In my tenth grade, the situation got worse. Before that, at least, I had some colleagues and at least a class per two weeks. But in the new grade, these brights disappeared too. How does IT work in Iran. Part 2 Before leaving Tehran I asked [user:SeMeKh,2013-02-19] a couple of questions on how the training for the competitions works in Iran.
There are local and regional Olympiads in Informatics in Iran which take place across the whole country. Top 40 winners will get together in so-called Golden Camp and train the whole summer, with a break of 2-3 weeks in [Ramadan](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramadan), **so the camp duration exceeds 2 months**. Part of the participants with lowest scores leave the camp earlier. The rating of participants is classified as either gold, silver, or bronze. "Golden" participants get the right to enter any university in the country without Concur. The 4 participants of IOI are also selected from the "gold" category. _Please note, that there is no national Olympiad in Informatics._ — see note below.

Day before the Bayan Programming Contest Today, with all international participants of the Bayan Programming contest finals arrived in Tehran, we have visited some places in Tehran. As you probably know this is the second time Bayan opens it's programming competition to international coders. 2 years ago I participated myself and ended up taking 3rd place. This time around I'll be your blogger.
In this first post I want to give you some useful tips and links to know more about Iran and, if you won trip to Iran, what would you need to know.

How does IT work in Iran. Part 1 I took this chance being in Tehran to learn more about professional life of an IT specialist in Iran. This path actually starts in the school, continues at the university followed by a professional career.

Cities Of CodeForces — 2 Country and city in Codeforces user profiles are often not a the place of the residence but a state of mind. I am sure those 197 users who selected Antarctica as their country feel that their surrounding is cold. Or cool ) The map below shows data from user profiles which have both country and city. So only 16 of all antarctic profiles were taken into consideration, because other have empty city field.
On 27 June 2021 there were 351898 users in the rating list. 88752 profiles contained both country and city. There were 4162 unique values of City field for 180 unique values for Country field.
The size of circle is proportional to user number and different colors are used to divide cities on groups with the following numbers of users: <20, 20-99, 100 -249, 250-999, >1000.

Bayan 2015: Arrival Yesterday we arrived to Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.
[user:eatmore,2015-04-30] was on my plane from Moscow, while we also met [user:ra16bit,2015-04-30] in the airport who arrived from Minsk.
After rather long process of aquiring visa and going through passport control (we arrived at 3:25 AM, but only got in taxi at 6:20) we got to the Parsian Evin Hotel where participants would live. Contest itself would take place in nearby Parsian Azadin Hotel.
After sleepless night I slept for most of the day.

Bayan 2015: History This year is 3rd edition of Bayan Contest.
Inaugural contest took place in 2011. About 800 university and high school students from all Iran tried to qualify for the finals through 2 online rounds and best 30 of them participated in the finals at Bayan offices in Tehran. Seyed Hamed Valizadeh won university stundents contest while Saeed Ilchi won high school part.
 
Next time Bayan decided to hold international contest. Codeforces was used to select international participants while Bayan's own system was used for selecting Iranian finalists as well as for the final itself. This time 1286 participants from 54 countries and 1728 from Iran tried to qualify and 8 international and 16 local finalists arrived to Parsian Azadi Hotel on February 16th 2013 in order to decide who is the best. my team failed to solve **Problem H of Tehran ICPC 2018** during the contest.
I tried to solve it with a **greedy** algorithm after the contest but I failed.
I have the test cases, and even when I solve the failed test case with hand, it ends with a wrong answer always **greater** than the accepted answer. this shows my approach is totally wrong. I thought a lot about the problem, but no other algorithm comes to my mind. can anyone help me to solve it?

Bayan 2012/13 Elimination round is over **Elimination round is over!**
Thank you all for participating in the elimination round of Bayan Contest. The [final results](http://codeforces.me/contest/241/standings) are available. We had more than three thousand registered users for the contest on Codeforces and one third of them were able to solve at least one problem. In the meantime 1100 Iranian contestants participated in our local contest and half of them solved a problem.
We tried hard to prepare a challenging-yet-fun problemset.
The problem "[problem:241G]" was inspired from a real story! The problem described in the story was used in CEOI 2011 ([Task Balloons](http://main.edu.pl/en/archive/ceoi/2011/bal)), and the provided algorithm was the author's solution during that contest — which got the full mark indeed.

Time for Bayan Programming Contest 2012/13 — Elimination Round.
The problemset has been prepared by Bayan employees. We've tried our best to make it interesting, competitive and a little-bit different! We'd like to thank **Mike Mirzayanov** ([user:MikeMirzayanov,2012-11-01]) and **Gerald Agapov** ([user:Gerald,2012-11-01]) who helped us during problemset arrangement process.

In a few hours, Bayan Qualification round begins.
Qualification round will be held as our first official and required round of [Bayan Programming Contest 2014-2015](http://contest.bayan.ir/en/). Schedule of Bayan Programming Contest Bayan has published the schedule of the upcoming finals of their contest: http://en.bayancontest.ir/post/Contest-schedule
The contest should be quite compact: just two days and everything in the same hotel. All participants has to register themselves on Friday, February 15. Actually, the schedule does not say "February 15", it just says "Friday". Participants of the onsite event have got email invitations to Tehran for February 14-17, so let's assume we are talking about 15th of February, 2013. Speaking about dates, I have to mention that it's right now the year 1391 in [Iranian Solar Hijri calendar](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendars). The New year is celebrated on March equinox, that's why the Sun is mentioned in the calendar name.

1st participation of the Moroccan team in the International Olympiads in Informatics — Need Support of the CF community Friends,
4 high school Moroccan students qualified to the International Olympiad in Informatics. This is Morocco's first participation in the IOI. The event is scheduled for the 28th of this month and it is going to take place in Tehran, Iran. It is unfortunate that they are facing financial issues and this might jeopardize their participation in the Olympiad. How to find maximum xor cut with some constraints in graph? Hi community.
I have two tasks which seems to share same basic ideas.

I tried following approaches for thinking about the first problem:
* reducing it to finding maximum subset xor which is of course wrong.
since it's not possible to use any subset of edges that we wish (for example in odd length cycles).
* Using the fact that edge with the highest bit on should be used but still no chance.
* Coming up with some DP solution, I think we need to know current xor of used edges which is too much so no chance again.
I would appreciate any hints.
Sharing thinking process which leads to the solution is so much more helpful though :)

Tehran 2015 — Help with Billboard problem Hi, could someone help me solving the following problem? [LINK](https://icpcarchive.ecs.baylor.edu/index.php?option=onlinejudge&Itemid=99999999&category=695&page=show_problem&problem=5548)
I've tried 2 solutions, one with complexity O(N^3 logN) using two mutlisets and other O(N^3 log^2N) using a BIT (I have the test cases and seams that this second solution runs faster). I got TLE with both approaches, so I came here to ask help. Hope someone could give me a better solution.

Teams for ACM ICPC World Finals 2015 — Marrakesh, Morocco I'm planning to make a scoreboard for the ACM ICPC World Finals 2015, the scoreboard will contain the TopCoder and Codeforces handles for the contestants.
