Can we use FFT to compute the first n values of a self-convolution form in O(nlogn)?, 19 months ago
+8
no one asked me Spoiler WHY THERES MORE FUCKING UPVOTE ON THIS COMMENT THAN TFG ONE? I'M JUST A STUPID TROLL, TFG WORTH MORE UPVOTE.Since it seems that nobody has answered the question about FFT being used to solve catalan-like self convolutions in $$$O(n \log n)$$$: Yes, it can! Basically you have to find the generating function then use FFT to compute it fast. Let's say $$$H = \sum\limits_i \text{C}_i \cdot x^i$$$. We know that $$$\text{C}_n= \sum\limits_{ i \lt n} \text{C}_i \cdot \text{C}_{n-i-1}$$$. $$$H^2 \cdot x = \sum\limits_{1 \le i} \sum\limits_ {j \lt i} \text{C}_j \cdot \text{C}_{i-j-1} \cdot x^i$$$ which is close to $$$H$$$. $$$H^2 \cdot x = \sum\limits_{1 \le i} \text{C}_i \cdot x^i$$$. Thus $$$H^2 \cdot x + 1 = H$$$. From here it's a matter of simplifying it: $$$H^2 \cdot x - H + 1 = 0$$$ After this, you can compute $$$\sqrt{F(x)}$$$ in $$$O(n\log n)$$$ using FFT as explained in the editorial of the problem I linked below. You can read more details on https://cp-algorithms.com/algebra/polynomial.html#newtons-method although it doesn't explain exactly how to do it for sqrt. This result is well known, it's even in wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_number#First_proof and if you want a similar but harder/more dynamic exercise then solve https://codeforces.me/problemset/problem/438/E |

A new algorithm for the 01-OV(orthogonal vector) problem with random data, 2 years ago
-25

It's something $$$O(\min((\frac{4}{3})^w,n^2))$$$ under random data, nothing new. |

After writing a brute force, it is found that if f(x) represents a first player playing on x, lose is 1 and win is 0. $$$f(x)=[1\le x\%(n+n^2)\le n]$$$. It's easy to prove this by induction. |

Yes, here we can enumerate the minimum and then use O(2^k·n) to solve. When an element no longer qualifies for the minimum value, we replace it with an element in the array that is just larger than it. |
|
0
Making each element as close to a1 as possible doesn't guarantee the greatest gap is the least, right? For example, a2 = (a1-1 or a1+5). a3 = (a1+5 or a1+7). You would choose "a1-1" versus "a1+5" with a difference of 6. The correct choice is "a1+5" and "a1+5", the difference is 5. And you can't handle the case if you have two closest values at the same time. |

For a hash with 1e9 candidate random values, just only one modulus is very difficult to hack. But be careful how you choose random numbers, things like srand(time(0)) are hackable |
|
+3
downvote who? |
|
+22
For candidate hash quantities at the 1e18 level (which is actually quite common, for example, when the moduli are 998244353 and 1e9+7), because a collision at the 1e9 level is required for a birthday attack, the memory requirement becomes too large. It can be considered to degrade this into a process of checking 4e8 at a time until a collision is found (expecting around 15 iterations). For the 4e8 level check, radix sort can be employed. If duplicates are found, only one O(n log n) sorting operation is needed to locate their specific positions, and then the entire program can be terminated. Because in reality, sorting at the 4e8 level with unsigned long long (ull) is very fast. In an educational 12-hour hack or even in regular contest(if someone has pre-written programs and distributed them), finding a collision is expected. Code If you want to use this code, don't forget to adjust maxn (lower or higher) to suit your computer. The larger maxn brings higher unit efficiency, so it should be large as much as possible if there is enough memory. If there is no length requirement for the attack string, here are more |
