Context
We proposed a Div 2 contest in July (on 31st July), and since then, we have been waiting for a coordinator to pick up our proposal. A few weeks past our proposal, KAN posted an update on the queue status as a comment under his blog on setting Div.1 or Div. 2 rounds.
It has been almost 5 months since our proposal (date published) and 3 months since KAN posted that the queue was in July 2024. While it is expected that it takes around 6 months maximum to get a coordinator assigned, there seems to be something off as it's been stuck in July for over 3 months.
Almost every 2 or 3 weeks, someone or another posts a comment enquiring about the current status of the queue, and every time, KAN might not be able to reply, too. So we need a better way to handle this.
Suggestion
I understand that there might be undisclosable challenges behind this, but the experience that has not been so great for the authors who need to check regularly for updates can be improved. A minor upgrade to the existing proposing page — addition of information on
- the current queue length
- the date published of the most recent contest proposal that's assigned a coordinator
would be good. This info would give an idea to those who have their proposals in the queue and those who wanna propose their contests. Also, it ain't complicated to implement either, in my opinion. I wonder why it's not been done.
It's just a tiny suggestion, would be happy to know any difficulties behind doing this or any better ways... :-)
