Although I haven't read through the details of the paper, I feel quite excited by the fact that an undergrad student was able to come across this innovation -- although I may be reading too much into the fluff of the article

Given the current AI rush throughout the world, it makes you wonder when / if at all AI would ever be able to achieve feats like this?
