Уже завтра, 9 октября 2022 года в 13:00 (по Московскому времени) состоится вторая командная интернет-олимпиада сезона 2022-23. Приглашаем вас принять в ней участие! Условия в этот раз будут по «Рику» и Морти – кажется, сейчас как раз уже некоторое время выходит шестой сезон.

Начиная с этого раза командные интернет-олимпиады будут проходить в двух номинациях: в базовой и усложненной. Регистрация для двух номинаций общая, не забудьте зарегистрироваться на цикл командных интернет-олимпиад в этом сезоне перед началом олимпиады. Обратите внимание, что для участия в командных олимпиадах нужно зарегистрировать именно команду. Команда может содержать от 1 до 3 человек.

Ссылка на регистрацию команд доступна из данного анонса, а также на основном сайте интернет-олимпиад. Всю дополнительную информацию, а также расписание всех предстоящих командных интернет-олимпиад можно посмотреть на той же страничке.

Продолжительность олимпиады – 5 часов для усложненной номинации и 3 часа для базовой. В базовой номинации вам будет предложено 8 задач вместо 10, некоторые задачи будут на более простые темы и алгоритмы, в некоторых по сравнению с усложненной будут более мягкие ограничения.

Условия появятся на сайте и во вкладке "Файлы" тестирующей системы в момент начала олимпиады. Тестирующая система находится по адресу pcms.itmo.ru. Выбрать базовую или усложненную номинацию можно будет в тестирующей системе на вкладке "Соревнования" перед началом олимпиады. Мы рекомендуем не выбирать базовую номинацию, если у вас уже есть значительный опыт олимпиадного программирования, но конечный выбор остается за вами.

DYTECHLAB Cup 2022

This October, we invite you to the first ever Dytechlab Cup 2022 that will start on Oct/07/2022 17:35 (Moscow time). The problems were prepared by members of our company who share a passion for Competitive Programming. It is an open and rated round for both divisions.

The round will consist of 7 problems and will be 150 minutes long. We wish everyone good luck and have a positive delta!

Prizes

• 1st place: US$200 cash prize
• 2nd place: US$100 cash prize
• 3rd place: US$50 cash prize

Also, we understand that contestants like dope MERCHANDISE, so we are giving away lots of them!

• Top 20 will get a merchandise package which will include: a t-shirt with your Codeforces handle on it, a notebook, 2 pens, and a sports bag.
• 30 merchandise packages, each including a t-shirt & 2 pens will be randomly distributed to 30 contestants ranking 21-200.
• 100 merchandise packages, each including a sports bag & 2 pens will be randomly distributed to 100 contestants ranking 201-1500.

All packages will include stickers in it, so you can stick them to your laptop and show your friends how hardworking you've been :p

On 30.09.2022 17:35 (Московское время) we will host Codeforces Global Round 22.

Codeforces Global Round 22 is the $$${\textbf{2}} \cdot {\textbf{2}} = 4$$$-th round of a 2022 series of Codeforces Global Rounds. The rounds are open and rated for everybody.

The prizes for this round:

• 30 best participants get a t-shirt.
• 20 t-shirts are randomly distributed among those with ranks between 31 and 500, inclusive.

The prizes for the 6-round series in 2022:

• In each round top-100 participants get points according to the table.
• The final result for each participant is equal to the sum of points he gets in the four rounds he placed the highest.
• The best 20 participants over all series get sweatshirts and place certificates.

В 29.09.2022 17:35 (Московское время) состоится Educational Codeforces Round 136 (Rated for Div. 2).

Продолжается серия образовательных раундов в рамках инициативы Harbour.Space University! Подробности о сотрудничестве Harbour.Space University и Codeforces можно прочитать в посте.

Этот раунд будет рейтинговым для участников с рейтингом менее 2100. Соревнование будет проводиться по немного расширенным правилам ICPC. Штраф за каждую неверную посылку до посылки, являющейся полным решением, равен 10 минутам. После окончания раунда будет период времени длительностью в 12 часов, в течение которого вы можете попробовать взломать абсолютно любое решение (в том числе свое). Причем исходный код будет предоставлен не только для чтения, но и для копирования.

Вам будет предложено 6 или 7 задач на 2 часа. Мы надеемся, что вам они покажутся интересными.

This time HUAWEI has prepared 2 challenging tasks for you from different business domains – Data Communication and Cloud.

You are free to choose which problem you would like to solve, and you are also welcome to solve both problems, but please remember the total runtime of both rounds, which start simultaneously, is 15 days only. We hope you'll enjoy this complex yet very exciting Challenge!

Each problem will have its own scoreboard and its own prize fund, so this is a unique chance for you to win double prizes for two solved problems!

Problem No 1: Optimal graph partitioning for fast routing

This problem comes from HUAWEI’s Data Communication business domain, in which routing algorithms have always been a critical issue. In the future, as more and more communication devices are connected to networks, data communication will face an interconnected network formed by ultra-large-scale network devices.

In this challenge, data communication experts of HUAWEI will provide you several network topologies. By dividing them into abstract domains, you need to scale down these topologies and enable quick route calculation, so that fast route convergence can be implemented on large-scale networks. Domain division must address the optimal routing and network scale constraints, so a routing algorithm that effectively divides domains while also meeting these constraints is the core of the algorithm design.

Problem No 2: Topology-Aware VM Placement

This problem comes from another HUAWEI’s business domain – Huawei Cloud. To win the competition in cloud computing market, major cloud service providers are focusing on improving the utilization of cloud resources, as this will allow to reduce the cost of cloud services. It is estimated that even a 1% increase in cloud service resource utilization can save millions of dollars in costs. The optimization of resource utilization, in turn, requires the development of advanced algorithms and technologies for cloud resource management.

The virtual machine (VM) placement algorithm considered in this contest is one of these critical algorithms, which is used to select a physical machine for running a user VM. Since VM requests arrive dynamically, this algorithm works in online fashion. The main goal is to maximize the number of successfully placed VMs. As the algorithm runs on a resource pool of fixed size the more requests are allocated, the less resources are wasted and the more resource efficient is the algorithm. A secondary goal is to maximize the number of VMs placed without violation of additional soft constraints, as it improves the cloud user experience.
