A Revolutionary Proposal for Codeforces

Hello Codeforces community,

After extensive research, deep analysis, and several hours of staring at the Codeforces problemset, I have identified a major issue affecting competitive programming:

There are not enough problems about optimizing the number of problems we solve.

I propose introducing a new rating called Meta-Rating.

The Meta-Rating would measure how efficiently a contestant can optimize their own problem-solving efficiency.

For example, if a contestant spends 15 minutes solving a 1200-rated problem, their Meta-Rating would increase. However, if they spend 40 minutes reading a 900-rated problem, their Meta-Rating would decrease.

This creates a fascinating recursive optimization problem:

How can we optimize the time required to optimize our optimization?

The possibilities are endless.

We could also introduce AI-generated adaptive contests, where the system analyzes your previous submissions and generates problems specifically designed to expose your weaknesses.

If you get 3 wrong answers on DP problems, the next contest contains 7 DP problems.

If you complain about implementation, the next contest contains only implementation.

If you complain about statement length, the next problem is 14 pages long.

This would create a truly personalized competitive programming experience.

Finally, I propose adding a “Thought Complexity” metric alongside time and memory complexity.

For example:

  • O(n) time
  • O(1) memory
  • O(17 existential crises) thought complexity

I believe these changes would significantly improve the competitive programming ecosystem and push Codeforces toward a more innovative and intellectually sustainable future.

Thank you for reading.

I look forward to hearing everyone's constructive feedback and engaging in a meaningful discussion regarding this paradigm shift.
