Hello, Codeforces!

We are happy to announce the 1st Solar System Olympiad in Informatics (SoSOI).

The contest will take place on November 7–8, 2026.

SoSOI is the first informatics olympiad organized for participants from across the Solar System. The competition brings together talented young programmers for two days of algorithmic problem solving and competition.

You will be given 7 problems and 5 hours per day to solve them. The problems will cover a variety of topics, including algorithms and data structures, dynamic programming, graph theory, number theory, computational geometry, and combinatorics.

The competition will be conducted under the same rules for all participants. Due to the distances involved in interplanetary communication, special attention has been given to communication delays and network latency.

Participants will receive certificates based on their results, with certificates recognizing Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists.

As this is the first edition of SoSOI, the medalists will become the first Solar System Informatics Olympiad medalists in history.

The olympiad is organized by our team with the goal of creating a new international competition for young programmers.

Registration and further details will be announced soon.

Good luck to everyone participating!

See you at SoSOI 2026.

As a participant from Neptune, I kindly request that you position the grading servers exactly halfway between Earth and Neptune for fairness reasons.

I think it's better on Jupiter, it's more or less the center of the planets if we include Pluton and I don't think there will be competitors from the Sun.

Thank you nik_exists for the wonderful contest. I had much enjoyment in completing the problems. Though the editorial was difficult to grasp, I powered through and achieved my goals.

Do I actually have to land on Saturn to represent it, or is being in orbit close enough?

Isn’t the contest a little unfair for participants from Jupiter, considering they have to deal with extremely high atmospheric pressure and much stronger gravity?

Moreover, some of my Venusian friends have complained that the intense heat makes it rather difficult for them to participate.

Lastly, the event clashes with the planet-wide New Year celebrations on Mars.

P.S. Please consider making suitable arrangements for participants from different planets. Otherwise, it may not be entirely fair, and talented participants from other planets could end up being overlooked.

My recommendation : Contests should be in habitable zone of our solar system! In this way , my pluto friend can see first time a planet other than a dwarf ones!

"the event clashes with the planet-wide New Year celebrations on Mars."

Can confirm! The noise from the New Year celebrations will make it harder to concentrate on the problems :(

But it's okay! Our team can do the contest on top of the Olympus Mons :D
