Assalamualaikum (peace be upon you), Codeforces people 👋.

I'm glad to invite you to the mashup OMORI CONTEST which will be held inshallah on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 19:30 (GMT+3).

You will be given 3.5 hours (210 minutes) to solve 7 cool problems in an ICPC-styled contest, themed about the videogame OMORI (Which is a great game that you might want to give a try). There will be exactly one interactive problem, so I suggest you should read the guide for interactive problems.

All problems have been written and prepared by me, Hexagons.

I would like to give a lot of thanks to:

  • MikeMirzayanov for the great codeforces and polygon systems 👍, without them I wouldn't be able to make the contest.

  • ismail-but-noob, 3mara, Mr.Pie, AhmedOsamaEzz, ahmedfouadnew, AbdelmagedNour for valuable testing and feedback, they made sure the problems were good enough and the test cases were strong 👏.

  • ismail-but-noob again, for helping me in preparing an interactor on polygon, without him there would be no interactive problem 😅.

  • All my friends who supported me while making this contest 💓.

  • You for joining this contest 😊.

Good luck to all participants!

I Hope you enjoy the contest and have fun solving the problems 😊.

Q&A:

Q: Does the contest contain spoilers for OMORI?
A: No, the contest does not contain any major or important spoilers for the videogame OMORI, you can join the contest if you have finished the game, still playing it, intending to play it, or don't even care about the game but just entering for the problems.

Q: What is the difficulty range of the contest?
A: Anything ranging from what a negative-rated account can solve to what tourist himself can't solve.

Q: Are the problems sorted?
A: No, so make sure to read all the problems before making any assumptions.

Q: What is the style of the contest?
A: As mentioned above, the style of the contest will be based on extended ICPC rules, similar to div4, div3, and edu rounds on codeforces. Rank people based on solve count, and rank based on penalty in case of tie. The penalty for each incorrect submission until the submission with a full solution is 10 minutes.

Q: How to register for the contest?
A: Just... press the register button just like registering for any normal CF round (But the registration is currently closed, it will open before the contest start time by about one day). If you were not invited yet to the contest (even though I put the link at the top of the blog), here is the contest invitation link: https://codeforces.me/contestInvitation/fc8da6d6845e77adc452e754d3d84c1086148c59

Q: Why is the contest day too late, didn't you finish making the contest?
A: I have finished everything I can finish (Including the contest editorial), but the contest was slightly postponed to later than expected because of start of uni in Egypt this time, and some of my close friends who are going to enter the contest are also not free much soon, and by 16 OCT I think everyone I had in mind to enter the contest would be free at this time, testers can continue enhancing the testing experience in the meantime of these 12 days.

Q: Why did you make the contest duration 3.5 hours even though most of us voted for 3 hours in the Sneak peak?
A: I have taken the average of the votes, $$$\frac{3\times 173 + 3.5\times 5 + 4\times 18 + 4.5\times 3 + 5\times 40}{173 + 5 + 18 + 3 + 40} \approx 3.5$$$. Plus, I thought 3.5 hours would be more fitting for the contest problems, and this duration was what most testers entered in.

Q: Are teams allowed to participate in the contest?
A: No, contest is for individual participants only.

Q: Is it rated?
A: No... It's not an "official codeforces round", but it is still a "round" in a sense.

Q: I can't enter the contest in the time duration you specificed, what do I do? can you please change the time of the contest?
A: If you can't participate in the contest you can still participate virtually after the contest ends, and you can solve the contest in practice. I will make a gym based on the contest after it ends, Inshallah.

what does held inshallah mean? how is it different from just being held?

Edit: nvm I looked it up. It is smart that you put that there. You never want to jinx yourself, cuz anything can really happen at any time.
