Hello Codeforces community,

We are looking for 3 hard problems (the difficulty level should be around a Codeforces D/E Div. 1). We don't require the problems to have the same author, so if you only have one suitable problem that's fine with us, we'll use the first come — first served principle. The compensation budget for this project is $350/problem (or the equivalent amount in rubles at a Russian bank exchange rate).

Please send an email with the statement and solution explanation at [email protected]. Feel free to contact Andrei for any other additional info.

Cheers,

The CS Academy team

Hello, Codeforces!

We are going to host a new contest at csacademy.com. Round #86 will take place on Wednesday, August/22/2018 15:05 (UTC). This round will be a Div. 2, affecting users with a rating below 1800.

Contest format:

  • You will have to solve 5 tasks in 2 hours.
  • There will be full feedback throughout the entire contest.
  • Tasks will not have partial scoring, so you need to pass all test cases for a solution to count (ACM-ICPC-style).
  • Tasks will have dynamic scores. According to the number of users that solve a problem the score will vary between 100 and 1000.
  • Besides the score, each user will also get a penalty that is going to be used as a tie breaker.

About the penalty system:

  • Computed using the following formula: the minute of the last accepted solution + the penalty for each solved task. The penalty for a solved task is equal to log2 (no_of_submissions) * 5.
  • Solutions that don't compile or don't pass the example test cases are ignored.
  • Once you solve a task you can still resubmit. All the following solutions will be ignored for both the score and the penalty.

The 25th Central European Olympiad in Informatics will take place in Warsaw, Poland, during August 12th-18th 2018. The most gifted high school students from 14 countries will have the opportunity to prove their knowledge and skills in informatics.

The CS Academy team will organise the online mirror for this year's competition. The online mirrors will take place after the finish of each of the 2 competition days, having the same scoring format.

The online mirror schedules are the following:

Contest format

  • The contest will be rated for all users.
  • You will have to solve 3 tasks in 5 hours.
  • There will be full feedback throughout the entire contest.
  • The tasks will have partial scoring. The maximum score for each problem will be 100 points.
  • There will be a time tie breaker, so two users having the same total score at the end of the contest will be further sorted by the penalty.
  • The penalty will be equal to the first time they achieved the final score. Only submissions that increase the total score are taken into account. This means that after getting 50 points on a problem you will still have 50 points even after submitting a solution that gets 0 points and that the penalty will remain the same.

Facebook event

We created a new Facebook event. If you choose "Interested" here, you will be notified before each round we organise from now on.

  • Solutions that don't compile or don't pass the example test cases are ignored.
  • Once you solve a task you can still resubmit. All the following solutions will be ignored for both the score and the penalty.
