When guns were invented, people assumed swords and physical strength were completely obsolete. However, there has always been a place for them to stand strong and show their true worth. The same applies to Competitive Programming (CP) in the era of AI. I may still be a beginner, but I refuse to believe that CP can't give you a massive edge.

Feature Request: Add a Solved Count Filter to the Codeforces Problemset

Hi everyone!

I think one feature that would be very useful in the Codeforces Problemset is a Solved Count Filter.

Currently, we can filter problems by rating, tags, etc., and we can also sort problems by solved count in ascending or descending order. However, there is no option to enter a custom solved-count range.

For example, I would like to search for problems with:

• Rating: 1000–1200
• Solved Count: 10,000–15,000
• Tags: Greedy, Math, Implementation, Binary Search, etc.

It would be great if Codeforces added two input boxes for solved count, something like:

Solved Count: [ Minimum ] — [ Maximum ]

Then users could enter any range they want, for example:

10,000 – 15,000

or

5,000 – 20,000

Why would this be useful?

The current ascending/descending sorting by solved count is helpful, but it doesn't solve the problem completely.

When we sort by solved count, we may get many problems from unusual or special contests mixed together. Sometimes these problems have a low solved count even though they are relatively easy, while some problems with a very high solved count can be extremely easy.

A custom solved-count filter would allow users to choose problems based on the number of people who have solved them, while still combining it with rating and tag filters.

For example, someone preparing for Pupil (1200) could search:

Rating: 1000–1200 Solved Count: 10,000–15,000

This would give them a much more specific set of problems to practice.

I think this would be a simple but very useful addition to the Codeforces Problemset.

I'm Priya Ranjan Kumar, a Newbie on Codeforces, and I'm looking for guidance in competitive programming.

I genuinely enjoy CP and have the motivation to improve, but I feel that I'm missing the right direction. If anyone is willing to mentor me, guide me, or simply share advice, I would be truly grateful.

My strengths

1. I stay consistent. As you can see from my profile, I solve at least 1–2 problems every day.
2. I'm always eager to learn and improve.
3. I had never cheated in any contest and always wanted to earn my progress honestly.

My weaknesses

1. I sometimes lose confidence when a series of contests goes badly.
2. I get frustrated when my rating keeps dropping despite putting in consistent effort.

My current goal is to become a Pupil and continue improving one step at a time. Any suggestions on practice strategy, contest approach, or problem-solving mindset would mean a lot to me.

I am new to Codeforces and have never studied Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) or Competitive Programming (CP) before. I would appreciate some guidance from experienced programmers.

My Questions

1. Problem Selection and Rating Progression

I currently solve problems from the Codeforces problemset within a range of my current rating ±100. Is this a good approach?

If it is, how do I know when I should move on to the next rating level?

• Should I move up after solving around 50–60 problems at a particular rating?
• Or should I continue solving problems at that rating until I feel completely comfortable with them?

The reason I ask is that even after solving more than 80 problems, I still get stuck on some problems, although I can solve many others at the same rating. What should I do in this situation?

2. Using Other Platforms or Problem Sheets

Do I need to practice on other platforms or use problem sheets (such as A2OJ, CSES, USACO Guide, etc.)?

• If yes, when should I start using them?
• How are they helpful compared to solving problems directly from the Codeforces problemset?
