Is giving only contests and upsolving a good idea?

Hi, I aspire to become a candidate master in about a year. So, Is giving only contests and upsolving the questions a good way to achieve my target?

Yes, do virtual contests, solve challenging problems for you and ALSO, stop asking questions like this.

I think Yes. Whenever you are upsolving a problem that uses a new algorithm/technique , make sure you solve atleast 1-2 more problems based on the same algorithm.
