In Codeforces Round #637 (Div 1), pajenegod became the first Python user (to my knowledge) to become Grandmaster, with a rating of 2464!

Considering how much Python is derided by most of the people in the CP community, some people thought this was impossible. pajenegod has truly mastered writing cancer code in Python. Feel free to PM him for all of your Python needs :^)

* Sadly, this round retroactively became unrated. So I made this thread for posterity.

Unrated? What? Why? And where is it mentioned?

One more reason to make the round unrated.

I personally follow his solutions from last 4-5 months and after the rating change when I saw that he became the Grandmaster, I was very happy for him, I was in the seventh sky because of two reasons, first of all he is a very nice person who even helps and replies noobies like me and second, he uses PYTHON (most of the times), I remembered talks of some of my seniors who always said to me You can't achieve anything in CP using Python. I guess he is an inspiration for all the Python users and he showed that language is really not a barrier at least up to Grandmaster (maybe Legendary Grandmaster in future). All the best pajenegod

You can spend a few days learning the basics of C++ (you don't really need pointers or any of the complicated stuff) or you can spend months learning all of the ins and outs and minor details of Python to become a Python master like pajenegod.

I know which one I would choose.

Thanks for your advice :) although I am slowly changing it whenever I required for example for Div2 A and B — I prefer Python because it gave me implementation speed but for Graph problems I prefer C++.

This is quite interesting, as I've often had this choice. I chose the latter, and I still believe that it made me a better programmer.

Having said that, my objective was never IOI or ICPC. My motives for doing competitive programming were completely different, and I had a lot more time to spare.
