Hello, Codeforces!
I offer you also to join testing of HTTPS support. Just visit to https://codeforces.me/ and start to use the website through HTTPS.
I am aware of some minor issues: mails still refer to the HTTP version of the website, Facebook does not merge likes for HTTP and HTTPS. Have you noticed anything else? Write a comment!
And thanks to Let's Encrypt for the certificates. Now with wildcards!
After 7 years, it’s finally here.
In another 7 years CF will replace PHP with JS!
Except it doesn't matter that much huh
Maybe even leave beta...
It's Java AFAIK.
UPD: Proof: http://codeforces.me/blog/entry/6389
Oh no, if I needed to connect to some wifi through browser I always typed codeforces as an only http website I know! What will I do now? Will http://codeforces.com work?
You know, I do exactly the same! Also Zlobober noticed that he uses the same trick :)
Andriy Burkov created too permanent non-https websites : http://nothttps.com/ and http://nonhttps.com/. Enjoy!
Today I learned that opening a non-https site would lead to the wifi login page.
http://example.com/, for instance
Same. Now Codeforces might lose a lot of visitors :D
Yes, but the bounce rate will decrease which is good.
So true!
Check out nya.sh; it hasn't been updated since 2014.
You can still use http://atcoder.jp as an alternative )
http://motherfuckingwebsite.com
I always use snarknews.info. As a bonus it does not have favicon, so my browser caches favicon from last wifi login page
2.2.2.2
Finally we are saying byebye to those nasty ISP advertisements! Cheers!
Google adds criteria to the rankings algorithm when it has proven to provide better user experience. HTTPS protects your users’ information and your information from hackers.
Really easy to do simple cookie sniffing and HTTP Authorization stealing with HTTP sites. With logging in you are being easily hacked. Finally, HTTPS!
:)
This is very good. Security very raise and hacking it almost impossible.
So I can't get 100 hacking points now?
It's not about hacking on test cases. You can get 100 points on a successful hacking. It's about hacking by hackers. The site is now protected from the outside attacks.
You missed the joke man!
/r/woosh
This poor guy gets 150 downvotes because he missed the joke ):
Atleast please tell me the joke now :D
He is pretending to misinterpret the statement. Clearly Ali_Pi is talking about the HTTPS, but in another context, it could be read like hacking a test case. So jon's comment is funny because it is unexpected, you don't expect someone to think that way
Hmmmmmm.... That means I can only have unsuccessful hacking attempts? Interesting.. :D
do you want to disable old version (http) ? when !
The website with HTTPS loads slower a little bit.
The API finally supports HTTPS! Thanks a lot for this!
.
i suggest you , if possible then fiexd a date
of every week, and arrange a contest this day.
is it possible MikeMirzayanov ..???
It is not possible. Mike does not directly hold the contests, and the organizers have their own work other than Codeforces, which indeed is not a source of income for them. It's just a platform of passionate people practicing their hobbies. :p
Thanks to u :)
Finally. This is awesome!
Maybe it's worth to check loads of the system before making rated round?
Yes! Finally!!!
And let's make problem statements shorter, we need it!!!
The Competitive Companion Chrome Extension (CHelper) doesn't work with the HTTPS .. any solution ?
I'm sorry but, what is the difference between http and https? I do not know anything about the webs...
When you log-in and type your password the man-in-the-middle can steal it, because the traffic between you and codeforces is not encrypted.
I didn't thought this day would come
Best update ever
It would be great if you can configure your server to redirect all HTTP requests to HTTPS. It should be just couple of lines in your server configuration.
Proof: https://codeforces.me/blog/entry/59651
When using HTTPS site, there's no feedback about status of submission from server. Like it "Running on test X" and X used to vary, now everything appears to be frozen. Is this intended?
