calc dp[i][j] -> is there a string, that suitable prefix i of the first template and the prefix j of the second pattern?

and then easy transitions:

dp[0][0] = true; if (a[i] != '*' && b[j] != '*' && a[i] == b[j]) { dp[i + 1][j + 1] |= dp[i][j]; } if (a[i] == '*') { dp[i + 1][j] |= dp[i][j]; dp[i + 1][j + 1] |= dp[i][j]; } if (b[j] == '*') { dp[i][j + 1] |= dp[i][j]; dp[i + 1][j + 1] |= dp[i][j]; }

answer in dp[n][m]
