Running old IOIs on CMS shouldn’t be this hard. I ran into this while preparing virtual IOI contests for my team, so I fixed and published ready-to-import CMS packages for IOI 2016–2025.

Hey All!

I've been honored to be a part of the IOI community in the past 5 years or so. last year I had the chance to be the coach of a great team, sweetweasel, eren__, AmirAli-Asgari, and Hamed_Ghaffari.

I wanted them to practice in the best environment and make the most of their virtual participation of the recent IOI contests. and of course the best environment would be the og environment of the contest — CMS.

My experience with CMS was limited. We did hold our national OI contests on CMS, but I never really got hands on with it, I mostly sat at the back while my highly skilled friends Davoth and AaParsa set it up.

Despite that, the CMS setup went pretty smoothly, well for the most part. I finally got to importing the problems. luckily for me the packages (testcases) for almost all of the recent IOI years have been published on the IOI website, take IOI 2017 for example. you'd expect the imports to be seamless but boy oh boy, I do not exaggerate when I tell you I worked a full day for some years.

Let's get to the point here, the IOI tools CMS, and TPS, have broken backwards compatibility. The IOI packages are not as useful as when they were published. And anyone trying to use them has to go through hell. But not anymore.

Thanks to Dev, I worked with devin to do this once so you don't have to. Long story not so short, I've published the packages for the past 10 years, IOI 2016 — 2025.

The repo gives you ready-to-import packages for IOI 2016–2025, all working with the current latest CMS v1.5.1. And it has helper commands to load each year's contests in a single command. Some packages needed reformatting, and I had to make a few touchups to the CMS loader as well.

You can find everything here: ioi-cms-packages

If you are coaching a team, or running a training camp, I hope this comes in handy. And if you are training for the IOI 2026, I wish you the best of luck! I'll be visiting actually, and would love to make friends.

At last, the job does not end here. I think seamless packages should become something officially maintained by the IOI, and I will try to make that possible. Feedback and issues are always welcome.
