I guess I can finally reveal that Triple Peaks (second problem) was my task! It was so strange during my stream today — the problems and authors weren't public so I assumed I can't say anything.

Do you plan on solving it on some livestream?

Sure, I will discuss the solution during the day 2 stream. I will also check out the other two problems.

It was a very fun two-part problem, thanks! And* crazy that China solved the big output only and not the small ones lol, I didn't expect those to be easier.

On the second question, your score is dependent on how many mythical triples are in your solution, and the score for each subtask can be a decimal

Solution Write up for Day 1 (excluding the Output only 30 points for P2)

Note that I have not submitted my solutions anywhere, but I have stress tested locally to a sufficient extent. You can access my code files at Github Repo.

Souvenirs
Triples
World Map

Update : All the above solutions work correctly as tested on oj.uz. I have now updated the github repo to contain submittable codes.

Here's a visual explanation for my solution to worldmap 100. It seems like some core ideas are the same, but I think my construction is a bit simpler.

Could you explain what's going on in the image? This doesn't look simple to me.

Take the DFS tree of the given graph. We'll try to draw the DFS tree.

Drawing only the tree is hopefully easy enough following the example of the first image. It can be shown that the height is at most $$$N$$$ and the width is less than $$$2N$$$. Now we need to add back-edges.

For $$$R = 3$$$ we can make the topmost row of every node three times taller like in the second image. Now we have some spots (marked in black) to add back-edges to descendants. There is always enough space for the back-edges because the width of a node is $$$2d + 1$$$, where $$$d$$$ is the number of its descendants.

To optimize for $$$R = 2$$$, instead make the topmost row of every node have only height 2, but use "jagged" edges. Now we have $$$(2d + 1 - 3) / 2 = d - 1$$$ spots for back-edges. This is sufficient because no node has a back-edge to its own children.

      Oh i am so stupid

I did not think to go "in that order" itself. Yeah this makes sense.

I was trying fixed orders instead and trying to find valid tree.

I uploaded all the tasks to QOJ, with the support of the "Interactive-and-Output-Only" format on P2. You might start a virtual participation if you want )

Personally, I found this innovative task type quite interesting, so I decided to implement this feature on QOJ when uploading the tasks of the Practice contest. I am still not sure the exact behaviors of the implementation of the CMS, and here is what I did:

  • General Idea: The priority of a submitted output file > The priority of the submitted programs
  • First, the judge will compile the contestant's program. If errored, a compilation error message is saved.
  • For each testcase, if there is a corresponding output file submitted by the contestant, the judge will run the checker for that testcase.
  • Otherwise, if the program of the contestant compiled successfully, we run this testcase normally.
  • Otherwise, the verdict of this test will be "Compile Error", and the compilation error message is provided for this testcase.
  • When submitting, contestants can submit both their program and a list of allowed output files (in this case, outputs for subtasks #7–#12). Each test corresponds to a full subtask in this case. (It's technically easy to support subtasks consisting of multiple testcases with allowed output files, though I'm not sure how useful that would be :< )

Anyone know the solution specifically for the $$$N \leq 15$$$ subtask for worldmap? How does the small $$$N$$$ help?

For N <= 15 you have 105 edges, so 2.28 rows per edge. DFS and just write down the edges you visit in order

Authors, you can come out now. Please. Since it appears the tasks are all very balanced and offered a very good score distribution, we won't jump you.

Quick braindead initial impressions of Day2 tasks:

Festivals: Another "simple setting" IOI task. No comment

Migration:

No ACs, only partial scores.

Probably another OO

looks inside

Communication problem.

Yes it is very hard. Probably not the same situation as IOI19's Broken Line where a deterministic polynomial solution exists but people don't bother to do that.

Obstacle for a Llama: M*saic, but good. Actual DS task. Yay. Probably in the same vein with those magical JOISC DS problem.

Ideas for full score on Migration? We have quite reasonable solutions for up to 21 messages, and some harder ideas for getting down to 12, but 8 seems really crazy

We (E869120 and square1001) authored at least one problem in IOI 2025.
We will reveal the details after the update in IOI 2025 Tasks Page (or after closing ceremony).

In fact we also submitted Migrations in IOI 2024. It was semi-accepted, which means that it was rejected but ISC said that we should submit it next year because the problem is good. So we decided to submit it again this year, and luckily it was used in IOI 2025 Day 2 :)

Side note: Some source codes for this problem can be downloaded from the website and I wrote some of them. I think you can find a clue that we also submitted it to IOI 2024...

For Obstacles, I think I have a pretty clean solution that does not need to consider free segments explicitly though thinking in term of free segments is better for understanding and proofs.

I’m the author of Llama(Obstacles). I know it’s a fairly standard problem, but I hope it was still a good fit for the contest :)
