Goodbye, 2024. Hello, 2025!
Dear Santa Claus,
Please make 2025 a happy year—not just for me, but for everyone. We all need this.
Hello, 2025!
And of course, we have our traditional gifts!
Change Handle Feature
Hurry! Until the 10th of January, you can change your handle (but only once)! Note that you can roll back the changes or request another handle change only after a year. Choose wisely!
You can change your handle to a new one that hasn’t been used by anyone else, or to one that you’ve previously used. Links to your old profile will automatically redirect to your updated profile.
Again this year, if you’ve participated in at least 10 rounds, you can request the handle of an inactive participant. This means the participant must have had a period of activity on Codeforces lasting at most 180 days, and this activity must have occurred in 2020 or earlier. The inactive participant must not have posted comments, messages, or similar content, and they must not have participated in more than 2 contests. In such cases, the handle will be automatically renamed, and the original owner will be notified via email. If the original user requests their handle back, we will roll back the change and restore your previous handle.
If you’re unable to change your handle, it means some of the requirements have not been met. Please do not ask me to intervene manually. I especially dislike requests such as, "This is my second account; I took an interesting handle myself." I'm not Santa Claus!
Speaking of handles, I always reminisce about one particular story. Once, a user sent me this message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya..."
New Year's Masquerade of Colors and Ranks
The traditional magical tab has appeared in your profile settings. Happy New Year!
nice bro, codeforces go ahead
where is tourist in magic
I think it's exclusive :D. It should be so yeah.
lmao I saw the background and refreshed 5-6 times and thought it was a bug until I looked closely and saw the snowflakes.
Have to change my Dark Reader mode to "Filter" instead of "Dynamic" to make the background less intrusive :(
There you go :)
This is REALLY awesome!
does it work for you all the time? as soon as I refresh the page, the snowflakes come back :(
For most of the time. However, I once found out that the per-site rule had disappeared, and I had to add it back again. I wonder if it's a bug in Dark Reader.
You may even include a bit of code in your userscripts (maybe in tapermonkey if you use it).
i added the dark reader extension and changed it to filter for codeforces, got rid of it for me.
Every year codeforces has this gift. But this year it will be more interesting because of the 'tourist'.
well... :(
However, I have tried to do that, But I can't find "tourist"
Tourist's magic was stronger than Santa's magic.
where Tourist
Tourist is not actually a rank in Codeforces. You see, Codeforces didn't design a title for ppl who have 4000 or above rating (prob because Mike didn't think anyone would get it).
How can I change my rank to Tourist?
I guess Tourist Rank has such an aura, that we can't even feel it with Santa's magic...
get 4000+ rating
wanna change to Tourist
I hope at the end of this year i reach expert
You will bro i believe in you
Thank you
i forgot my password, how do i change it
That is a 2 year old meme pal
shit I remember seeing this one last year
fun fact: this meme is half of his comments
Santa is real!
Am I the only one who checked these accounts ?
I_love_Valya
I_love_Sveta
Hope that everything will go well in 2025, and I wanna be a MASTER. Codeforces goes ahead, and hope everyone can be better next year.
But all in all, HAPPY NEW YEAR, bro.
I can't use "reyleigh" even thought the person who is using (Ramen) this is inactive since 2020 please fix this. Tagging Sir MikeMirzayanov.
EDIT : It's fixed thanks Sir MikeMirzayanov.
My name is omega now >w<
Merry Christmas!
suggest any hazardous threatening handle name (innovative)
this thing DESTROYED brawl stars
not even that can make me turn into a tourist
Excuse me, how to request the handle of an inactive participant.
Happy New Year!!!
The image is cut off. Clearly, that says legendary grandmaster, 8407.
Nah, its just a closing bracket ;(
woooosh
No unrated??
Fine , Happy new year to everyone :)
The next contest will be a huge mess
Definitely
It's a huge mess now
Why I can't change my name to "near"? It looks like all the conditions are met. Can you change my nickname to this one, please?
Thank you and love you Mike! Happy New Year!
Thank you I can finally be my true colour! Happy new year
Урааа волшебство
This is the magic of this magical community.
Happy New Year!
Not everbody
As a -50 rated, I can confidently say I deserve the LGM.
How can you achieve -50 , respect++
frrr
Tourist masquerade when
For those who are thinking about user "I_love_Sveta"
Check out that post and comment...
MikeMirzayanov Can we take username of a disabled user ?
Sorry for tagging MikeMirzayanov, I can't change the name Raven even through that user has inactived for 12 years (~2011,2012)
Me too. I tried to change to the handle "Mosaab", and it is inactive, but it failed.
why no Headquarters in Magic?
Why can't I make it tourist:/
Finally I don't need to study anymore to be a grandmaster
archived
were you able to change?
No, I do not know why really, and it is not only me, but many users also face the same issue.
When the badges for supporting Codeforces(15 years) appears?
Hello I am trying to take a username that is inactive from 5 years with no contests. But when i try to enter it in the handle section it says "handle currently in use". Why it's happening is it because somebody else has requested for that handle ?
I am the lowest rated LGM rated in the last 6 months!
Taking the expert rank because everyone else is GM now won't make you special.
MikeMirzayanov still having great ideas. Thank you so much, sir.
wow I am legendary grandmaster now with the help of magik ✨
Happy New year !!
As every year: 2022 2023 2024 and 2025:
I thank some random Bangladeshi guy for saving the username for me!
The santa hat Mike is wearing seems photoshopped
Yes! Thanks for the gift sir, now I can temporarily change my color to match my target for this year.
Also a small change to handle is nice, thanks a lot.
Finally become LGM this 20 days.
But why there is no rank of "tourist" in magic?
WHY NO TOURIST RATING HERE?????
How can I change my rank to Tourist?
Send me 1 bitcoin and I'll help u with that!
how can I roll back the original handle?
can I do Tourist?
I like this magic!
I can't use "Prakhs" even thought the person who is using (Prakhs) this is inactive since 2011.All conditions are being met, he has no comments or activity and has participated in 1 contest only. Please fix this. Tagging Sir MikeMirzayanov
good feature, sir!
"Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya..." MikeMirzayanov being savage.
Thank you Mike!I finally become Legendary Grandmaster!
I want tourists rank
happy new year guys :)
Even Santa can't make us TOURIST – we can earn it only through sheer hard work.
Happy New Year!
Very good round, very much liked it!
Seem that Santa's magic is not enough for us to become a tourist XD!
why we can't change to unrated
Can someone help me with why am I not able to rename my handle to 'ashray'. I wasnt even able to do it last year T_T. the account with that username is inactive, no comments posted, no blogs, and last visited the platform 6 years ago MikeMirzayanov
happy new year everyone!
Seems tourist is much stronger than magic.
Happy New Year, CodeForces! :)
MikeMirzayanov Hey, just a reminder that magic was supposed to be removed on the 10th unless I've misread the blog :)
Here are the statistics on how you used magic this year. Shortly before the magic rollback, I gathered the following numbers.
By ranks:
By colors:
Now, 2025 and MikeMirzayanov forgot to do that
still waiting for it... 2 more days!
