A master, as you probably know, is someone in the 2100-2299 rating range. I believe that I have made a pretty accurate estimation of the average IQ of a master, but I would like to hear CF users' thoughts on this. The wisdom of the crowd usually trumps the guesses of any individual person.
So please, add a thumbs up to the range in which you believe the average IQ of a master falls under.
IQ range:
For reference, the IQ score percentiles are roughly:
$$$100 = 50$$$
$$$110 \approx 75$$$
$$$120 \approx 91$$$
$$$130 \approx 98$$$
$$$140 \approx 99.5$$$
$$$150 \approx 99.95$$$
Probably around -1e9 ish range.
i'd buy that
If you are so interested in estimating the IQ of a master, why don't you invite them to take an IQ test and post the results?
I took the test at iqtest.com and scored 91.
That's actually a pretty good idea.
broski took the worst IQ test known to man
Sorry, I didn't know the test was bad. Maybe if my IQ was higher I would have known better
This test right here is pretty decent: http://antjuanfinch.com/sgiq, though it likely produces somewhat inflated results. You can try it if you would like to. I'd be interested in knowing everyone's scores.
I must mention that it is a mental test afaik. You shouldn't use scratch paper or a calculator.
i got 93 selecting all true
Good idea--I'll try that next time
high enough to be aware of the bane of existence, but too low to do anything about it
How does iq system even work?
It is assumed that intelligence is normally distributed since most traits are normally distributed. For this reason, raw scores on an IQ test are fitted to a normal distribution. The mean IQ is 100 and the standard deviation is (usually) 15.
Think about it like this: say there is an IQ test with 50 questions. The mean is 20 and the standard deviation is 5. If you get a 25, your IQ would be 115 and if you get a 30, your IQ would be 130.
I'd like to add that you can see how this method could cause some trouble. For example, what if the raw scores are skewed to the left or skewed to the right? Then the mean and standard deviation wouldn't provide an accurate estimation of one's ability in relation to the reference group.
This is why it might be better to translate a raw score on an IQ test to a percentile and then translate that percentile into its IQ equivalent. I hope this all makes sense and isn't just rambling.
is it true that we can increase iq level by doing work hard ??
You can't raise your IQ by much. Either way, you should exercise, eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and challenge your mind. By doing these things, you can make your mind the best version of itself.
I don't think you'll find a correlation stronger than the one here. IQ means nothing.
why do you say that?
because he is GPT user(used GPT for this comment).
