Good morning everyone! The Hacker Cup team is excited to announce the schedule for our 2022 season, kicking off on August 26th! And for those of you who were wondering, yes–we’ve officially rebranded from Facebook Hacker Cup to Meta Hacker Cup.
- Qualification Round: Fri. Aug. 26th, 10am PDT — Mon. Aug. 29th, 10am PDT (72 hours)
- Round 1: Sat. Sept. 10th, 10am PDT — Sun. Sept. 11th, 10am PDT (24 hours)
- Round 2: Sat. Sept. 24th, 10am — 1pm PDT (3 hours)
- Round 3: Sat. Oct. 8th, 10am — 1pm PDT (3 hours)
To compete, you can register here at any time between now and the end of the qualification round on August 29th.
Stay tuned for more details about the finals, which are expected to happen at the end of 2022, likely in December.
We’ll provide more announcements as we get closer to the start of the season in August. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you on the Qualification Round’s scoreboard!
You can find the Facebook post announcing this season here. Feel free to ask any questions about Hacker Cup below, or check our FAQ here. You will need to create a Facebook account in order to compete in Meta Hacker Cup if you do not yet have one.
Am I correct in assuming that the "5 online rounds" phrasing at this link implies that the finals will be held online?
UPD: This phrasing and the sentence screenshotted below have been edited out of the event announcement. It appears that Meta has not yet determined whether the finals will be held in person.
"Round 3 is also 3 hours long. The top 25 competitors will advance to the Final Round, which will be held online this year."
Thanks--looks like that was edited in since the last time I was on the page. In that case, I'll do a bit of shameless self-promotion--see this link for my argument on the importance of returning to in-person finals as soon as possible.
Looks like it's been updated. ;)
why Facebook still uses input.txt and output.txt ,google has an online judge system and it supports interactive problems also ?
What's the issue?! It's fun to have that system atleast somewhere
You can now download an encrypted version of the input before the 6 minute window starts, and then click a button to see the password to unencrypt the input to start your timer now, that way you're not bounded by internet speed for downloading large files.
Little off-topic. No update has been sent for a long time regarding hackercup 2021 tshirts. Anything about it?
I got it in January, (I'm from Spain), relatively quickly!

Are the drawings in the picture going to offer any clues what the problems are?
Those are actually for the problems of last year's contest.
Guys from Facebook didn't send me my T-shirt for FHC-2021. I asked why, but they ignored me.
Faced the same shit, such irresponsible behavior.
+1
Me too.
Still haven't received a T-shirt from last year's contest
Links in the post to the qual time doesn't seem correct. It says 6 hours 20 minutes passed from the start while in reality it starts in 40 minutes
Ahh, thanks, I had the wrong timezone
Why is the submission on hakcercup so complicated?
To Facebook Hacker club organizers: please send out emails. I nearly missed FHC Qualification Law because I didn't get an email (thankfully I checked Codeforces). Anyways, looking forward for another fun year of FHC.
We do send out reminder emails, and have this year for both the qual round and round 1. It's possible you might not get them if you either don't have an email account attached to your facebook profile, or you unsubscribed from facebook email notifications.
For what it's worth, I have emails enabled in my Meta Hacker Cup profile and I still didn't receive any reminder email. I've checked every folder including spam and used the search bar in my inbox to make sure it didn't slip through the cracks. You can check the attached screenshot to see if I checked the right options.
Obviously I'm not saying that one counterexample means no reminder emails were sent. Rather, I'm just curious, what percentage of participants are getting these emails? Is my case rare or the norm? What does this mythical reminder email even look like?
Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll look into it once we have round 3 stuff sorted out.
SecondThread any updates on hacker cup 23?
