Hello,

I am 20 years old and I have myopia (nearsighted, cant see far away things clearly) of -2D in both eyes. I was wondering whether myopia is really related to doing so much closeup work or just because of genetic reasons. My brother and I used to play a lot of computer games till late night when we were in our teens yet he can see everything clear without glasses and I developed myopia in my late teens which is still increasing ( +0.25 every 7-8 months). I am posting this here because obviously competitive programmers spend a lot of time in front of a screen or reading books. So share your myopia story and what do you think causes the axial elongation of eyeballs? too much closeup work or genetics?
