Starting a 350 hours problem solving practice challenge

Revision en3, by ahmedsiam, 2026-10-20 10:27:41

I decided to practice for 350 hours spread across the time frame between today and 2028-10-10.

My practice workflow:

  1. Do 2x45 minutes mock coding interviews weekly.
  2. Participate in a Div.2 Codeforces contest weekly.
  3. Read solutions for problems I failed to solve during mock interviews or the contest. Also compare my solution to other solutions.

Rules:

  • Use Clockify for time tracking.
  • Post monthly updates as Codeforces blog posts.
  • Focus on Div.2 B, C and D problems only.
  • Replace mock interviews with practice problems if no interviewing partner is available.
  • Follow LLVM Coding Standards.
  • Have an organized problem solving process: Reading/Understanding the problem -> Looking for inefficient solution -> Looking for sufficiently efficient solution -> Designing the solution -> Turning design into code -> Tracing/Debugging it manually -> Testing it -> Submitting.

My main goal is to hone my coding and problem solving skills by leveraging from the gamification experience of Codeforces contests for motivation but the main indicator will be how many hours got spend on practice not the rating.
