IOI 2011. Pattaya, Thailand!
UPD: Sorry, my bad =)
It was 2011. Or you mean Italy?
Definitely not Canada one =)
IOI 2008
Why did everybody dislike that? There is no rule to name only olympiads you have visited as participant, isn't it?
IOI 2008 has very interesting problems, I also think so.
IOI-2016
hey what
I have been to IOI 2010 in Canada and IOI 2011 in Thailand.I have to say that each IOI is a great, unique experience itself. If I am to judge based on which IOI had more interesting problems for me , then it'd be IOI 2011. On the other hand , the one I enjoyed more was IOI 2010 (Waterloo-Canada). It was a fabulous experience. The city of Waterloo was as wonderful as a green heaven. The excursions were very well organized and included a visit to Niagara falls which are an international tourist attraction (It was great that everyone attending the IOI was able to go on a boat tour in the lake formed by the falls for free , it's impossible for me to forget the impressive experience of being on the border of two of my favorite countries , the US and Canada). In addition , I have to mention that I was really impressed by the friendly , open-minded characters of the Canadian people. I can't recall any single occasion when someone misbehaved , everyone was friendly.
On a relevant note , I'd like to mention that I've had a frustrating experience regarding the IOI. I qualified to IOI 2012 in Italy , but we weren't granted VISA for entry. It was my last chance for an IOI medal , and we were really disappointed. Unfortunately , the same situation is happening again this year. The Iranian team's applications for VISAs for IOI 2013 were refused , due to political reasons. The same happened to the Iranian team in IOI 2008 in Egypt. I think it's totally unfair to deprive students from such an opportunity.I believe more effort from the organizing committee should be put into making sure that every country willing to participate in the IOI can attend with ease.
How do you know how much the organization committees work at the moment?
Still, it is very unfair that some countries can't participate.
IOI 2011,Thailand :)
My single&favorite IOI2012 in Italy :p
I hope Taiwan :D
My favorite IOI's are 2007 (Croatia) and 2008 (Egypt). I think they had the best problemsets that ever were on IOI.
The last and the only one I visited as participant (2012, Italy), I don't like at all :-(
Like, seriously, weren't "Supper", "City" and "Rings" all very good problems?
You are a necroposter, this comment is almost four years old :)
After a long time, I think that problemset in Italy wasn't that bad, but it was not really good. I really like the Jousting Tournament and Odometer problems but the rest of them were pretty technical and not very creative. The problem Rings was awful as for me, it had a complicated case handling solution with a pretty tough time limit.
Ah, I didn't notice that this blog was that old, it showed up in recent actions :).
"Supper" had a solution with incredibly short code and even though only few people came up with it, I guess that it is perfect opposite of "pretty technical and not very creative" :). When I was solving "Rings" I started conscientously considering all possible cases on a paper and when their number grew up to something like fifteen and it was not the end I thought that it needs to have a better solution, so I thought for a while and came up with a really neat solution with very low number of cases and got no problems with getting it accepted. I consider "City" as also very nice and not easy to solve.
My favorite place was definitely Pattaya Thailand 2011 :)
The best problemset was probably Croatia 2007, but I think the Italy 2012 problemset had some fun problems and even though problems like odometer are a bit "odd" I think they can lead to different tasks more "algorithmic" than "programmatic". I like it!
IOI 2014 in Taiwan, because it was so well organized.
And to be honest the worst one was IOI 2015(Kazakhstan , Almaty) I think
Could you elaborate on that? :D
Well the organisation was really bad.
It felt like SOI :3
I've been to both 2014 and 2015, and aside from the food 2014 was better on all fronts. 2015 was a disaster, the guides didn't know english very well. we had to wait for hours everyday and we couldn't party like we did in 2014.
I think 2011 and 2014 had the most beautiful problemsets. 2008 was exceptionally hard but also very well rounded.
(I've been to both of them too)
"aside from the food"?
The food in Taiwan was amazing! In Kazakhstan we got pretty much the same every day. Because of this monotony we (the Austrian contestants + leaders/guide) even went to restaurants a few times. In Taiwan we had this huuuuge (delicious) buffet every evening. Or remember that one time, where we eat inside the tower, wasn't that awesome? What could you possibly not like about that? :)
So from my point of view IOI 2014 couldn't have been any better. IOI 2015.. well, not so much ^^
And from what our team leaders said, 2014 was one of the best olympiads as well.
The worst one was 2013 because AUSTRALIA DIDN'T GIVE US VISA
I didn't do many problems from IOI, but tasks from only IOI I've attended, 2012 one in Italy, were really cool, especially on second day.
IOI 2016 — Best IOI ever?
At least best opening and closing ceremonies ever.
AAAH KAALIIIIIIINNNNKAAA KALIIIIINKA KALIIIINKA MAYYA
<3
Definitely!! <3
My favourite IOI is 2018, because it's the only possible one I might attend. ^_^
And it will be in Japan, which is quite exciting as well.
My faviorate IOI was 2018, and I have two reasons. ( Not said the best, but it will be <3rd. )
Wow. Usually people are very unhappy because they can't visit another country when they have IOI in their own. (summon Reyna )
I can't agree with you more than it's going to be the best ioi :)
Maybe he's saying "atmost 3rd" because he is eligible in 2018, 2019, and 2020 :)
Also, I think first participation can't compare and not experienced IOI so feels interesting.
