I wish, coders of India(including me) understood this. We make competitive programming a sort of placement material. Like, if you don't do cp, you will not get a good job :(

That's just you. Even as an electrical engineer I do cp and I'll continue doing it as long as I enjoy it.
Oh okay. Maybe I assumed wrong. In my university, seniors be like, Spoj, Codeforces karlo, Goldman Sachs Amazon pakki. Though I do cp because I like problem solving, but I did face this, so just told my view :)

It cannot be completely denied that doing CP helps in interview prep. The 1st round is coding round for internships/jobs. I could solve many questions in my interview test only because they were similar to div3 BCD's/div2 ABs.
In short, If you are on CF if you love CP, that's fine.
If you're on CF if you want to practice for interview tests, that's fine.
If that's both even nicer!

I agree that most newbies form this opinion because they are told this by their college seniors and from posts on LinkedIn.
2 is extremely untrue. I know ~25 purple/yellow coders as seniors, and none of them have put it up on their LinkedIn posts.
Of course, there are > 20 Indians who didn't make a Linkedin post after turning yellow/purple. And despite being quite decent at CP, I am honestly worried about getting internship next year.

Most people really advance rapidly in high school as there are lots of competitions, you have a lot of free time and usually you have the ultimate goal of IOI. Once you're in university or get a job, you realise that the majority of people haven't heard of competitive programming. You have much less time and you find many new hobbies, so it's only natural that your participation drops.
As I said to my friend a few days ago, one day, you'll submit your last codeforces submission without recognizing that this is your last codeforces submission.
Thinking about it breaks my heart... I just love solving problems
We all do. I just would not stop participating in contests (CP or even other types of programming contests). But eventually someone will read our comments here and check our profiles and see the "last visit: 3 years", and I hope that day is the farthest possible

There are many beautiful things in this world other than cp. Maybe they found one of them.
Almost everything is ruined in the lockdown though.
That's what I call a different "point" of view.
It all has been answered in other comments already, and I have just a small thing to add:
Contestants who are at the level that you described often tend to have a bit different view on what is "good" in competitive programming.
I don't know why but I feel good for them. Like they have achieved their rating goals and moved on to something new in their life.
