I want to go to Joker's Asylum ER in San Jose (California) on the 7th of August, two days before GCJ finals. It's a difficult escape room and a team should consist of 5-10 people. So far, there's me and my friend — not really pros. I'm looking for more people to go there and maybe grab a beer later. If the date is fine for you and you are good at ER and/or algo, write a DM to me.
This room has very good reviews and the escape room veteran Swistakk recommends it a lot. Sounds promising, right?
I am only wondering if such post has been made by a green or grey.
I second that this platform is not the best place for such announcements. Imagine half of the post in the recent blogs like this one.
Interesting. I still think my post is ok. I wanted to reach gcj finalists and others living in California. I considered writing a comment under gcj finalists blog but that would be offtopic and it wouldn't make things better, I think.
I remember a similar post from maybe a year ago. Somebody was inviting people for board games after fhc or gcj. And there are often some blogs about icpc finals like "how to turn this light off". I'm perfectly fine with things like that.
CF works in mysterious ways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Your post is totally fine and I would have loved to join you if I had qualified :(
nik7 and kostka, you guys need to pull out that stick which is up your ass. I thought that posts encouraging social activities bringing people together are perfectly fine. When it is some lunch club on ICPC or some ACM-veterans gathering somewhere in Russia then it is fine and even makes it to the main page, but when it is something posted by contribution leader then it gets backlash like that? Maybe it is not a big well organized event and its target audience is not the whole CF community, but its intended target is gcj finalists + cp people living in Bay Area, so I think that CF was still the best place to post this and if you are not in the target audience then title makes it perfectly clear, it's not some clickbaitish or unclear "looking for people", so you will not waste unnecessary time on this post.
P.S. And yeah, this escape room is GREAT!
I never said I am against such post. Perhaps you should read my comment again.
I don't see any other meaning to your post other that "I think this post is trash.". Could you explain your intended meaning in case I am mistaken?
I think he means that if some green or grey made the same post it would be getting like 100 downvotes.
Ok, farmersrice enlightened me what you tried to say but that was hard to understand because your post was far from correct English. It seems I was not the only one to misunderstand it since kostka wrote "I second". Moreover at the time I saw this blog for the first time it had -30 votes and your point relied on the fact that, I presume, it was upvoted before. Sorry for misunderstanding.
And maybe you should stop insulting others for no reason. I just expressed my opinion.
Maybe, yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Sorry for my overly emotional response!
Do you know around what time you were planning on doing the room, since August 7th is a weekday, and some people might have work.
6pm or 7:30pm. We have six people already, enough or almost enough :3 you can still write to me if you want to join.
And the blog is again visible in recent actions, hurray.
That's a great choice, I did it and it was very enjoyable. If you're doing a second one in the bay area I recommend https://palace-games.com/ (In SF). They are honestly a level beyond anything else I've done.
