How to never give up?
How to be more confident?
How to fight fear?
How to keep the fire inside burning?
I believe that anyone is familiar with those problems and that it is better to talk about it instead of hiding it inside. Share some advice in comments.
I think you need psychologist not codeforces (:
I recommend you to search for self-improvement videos or books. You can feel like yourself being motivated even without any serious efforts.
I believe such motivation doesn't last long!
Exactly!
Find a person who you respect, who you can rely, or who you can learn.
I asked myself this kind of questions before, just don't push too hard on yourself, take a break and eventually everything will get better, believe my I was in this situation before.
You can watch screencasts of Petr Mitrichev ! I used to do so , whenever i feel bored ! u can try too .
Just remember that if you're not willing to sacrifice to reach your goals, you actually do sacrifice ... your goals.
Here is one nice tip
just solve it for the rating
Saitama-sensei teaches me how to not give up and live my enjoyable life. You know what he does every single day, don't you?
On more serious note: Don't forget to reward yourself. Have a treat after you accomplished something!
How do you treat yourself after accomplished something?
As small as an ice cream will do, or maybe treat yourself a good dinner.
If food is not your style, maybe some free time to play a game or doing your fun hobby other than CP?
Check out The Myth of Sisyphus essay by Albert Camus. "...Sisyphus, a figure of Greek mythology who was condemned to repeat forever the same meaningless task of pushing a boulder up a mountain, only to see it roll down again. The essay concludes, 'The struggle itself ... is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy'." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Myth_of_Sisyphus

Actually after spending > 10 years doing competitive programming I think that CP taught me most of these things.
In my first ~ 7 years I failed in many important competitions and had miserable life. After I accepted that it was ok to fail, and just try to improve myself instead of worrying about results, I did much better.
You need to have real skills to become more confident. Just focus on improve different skills. For me I just code more and taught others. Confidence follows naturally.
I was usually frightened in important competitions. At my last ICPC WF I finally accepted that it was ok if I do badly. I prepared for that contest for so many years, and I could not prepare any better — so I just accept whatever happen.
I think you should instead try to figure out what you want to do. For me I've tried several other things — and I realized everything else sucks. So I just stick to programming.
you actually made it to WF + LGM+ GOOGLE ,what else do you want ?? become tourist ?? i think you need to talk to him if he lets you become him XD....
I got those 3 after I failed for 7 years. (I don't count my 1st WF as I was carried by my teammates)
" I've tried several other things — and I realized everything else sucks."
seriously? what else did you tried?
High school: Chemistry sucks, Physics sucks.
Univ: Math sucks, social studies suck.
Life: People suck.
Did someone ever accused you if you win because of luck? If so, how do u handle that?
luck favors the prepared mind
Nah I won because of teammates. But I chose my teammates :).
Just be a REPEATER!!!
