for women???
Each time I wonder why they don't clearly state in rules if only women eligible for prizes or not...
Likely because such a rule (that only women are eligible) would violate anti-discrimination laws. So there is no such rule.
So is it for women only or not? The website confuses me more.
Can't access the contest, is it accessible only to women?
I also observed two people(women) can't access.
It seems the contest is delayed by 2 hours. The site now shows starting time as 17:30 UTC
EDIT : It's reverted and is now stating the original time 15:00 UTC.
Same here
is it rated?
That page is bugged apparently and it's not possible for me to enter the contest :(
Have you mailed them?
What is the contest link?
On https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/codejamio I see that it's delayed by 30 minutes
It's been delayed again by 15 minutes :(
how did you know that? could you provide the link?
You can see the timer in the upper left side https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/codejamio
I don't have that timer, please when it begins say
For now it should start in 17 minutes (but it has been already delayed several times).
now it's growing into 22 minutes again :)
Contest Link?
https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/codejamio
I was just wondering whether this is the link?
No this isn't the contest link.
Is it OK what it doesn't work and timer is growing up and up? Is there a delay or something wrong with me?
me too but how could we know when it begins
And ... it's growing again :)
And again.. May be, tomorrow we can start
And ... it's growing again LOL XD. This is the first time I felt so betrayed :)
Okey, at least they finally wrote when the round begin. Waiting for 16.30
Has the contest started?
miraculously nope
Everytime when the time gets close to 4, it again starts from 20.
Top 10 pranks of 2019.
https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/codejamio/round/0000000000050fc5 is the new link. The contest will start in 15 minutes from now!
Problems are visible already!
How to solve Sheepwalking for large constraints?
dynamic programming
note that -ve value are meaningless here so we will take absolute values. 0. f(0, 0) = 0
f(x, y) = f(y, x)
f(x, y) = 0.5 * f(x-1, y) + 0.5 * f(x, y — 1) + 1
f(x, x) = f(x, y-1) + 1
so actually we need to calculate the value of f(x, 0)
f(x, 0) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 0) + 0.5 * f(x, 1) + 1 f(x, 1) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 1) + 0.5 * f(x, 0) + 1
f(x, 0) = 0.5 * f(x-1, 0) + 0.5 * (0.5 * f(x-1, 1) + 0.5 * f(x, 0) + 1) + 1
by simple algebra we can deduce that f(x, 0) = (2 * f(x-1, 0) + f(x-1, 1)) / 3 + 2
Why is it only for women?
Presumably because they're trying to attract more women into the tech field.
I am transgender and identify myself as strong independent women, can I participate?
I'd say yes since they didn't specify that it's for cis or trans women, but for women in general.
I have a doubt. How does Google ensure that the contestants were actually women? I mean how do they ensure that a contestant didn't hand over her handle to someone else and asked him to participate on behalf of her? I am in no way trying to harm any community. I'm just trying to clear my aforementioned doubt.
Who said only women are allowed? There is no such rule.
I'm sorry but you misunderstood me. Let me clarify: https://codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com/codejamio This webiste says "Code Jam to I/O for Women 2019". So basically only women are eligible for prizes. What I meant was how does Google verify that the winners (Top 150 according to their website) are actually women? Take this example: A girl G asks her friend B, who's a boy and a highly talented competitive coder, to use her handle and participate on behalf of her, which is of course a malpractice. B (posing as G) eventually managed to secure a rank within 150. So how does Google make sure G doesn't receive the prizes.
I guess they don't verify those cases.
But why did you ask this in Google CodeJam for women? This case could happen in any onsite contest where there is an online qualification.
I heartily say sorry to everyone I've hurt. I didn't mean to point out any flaw in the contest structure nor have any harsh comments for a particular community. I had a genuine doubt which I tried to ask at the wrong place. I should focus more on improving myself rather than what the other person does. I'll keep this in mind next time. Please forgive me.
Is here anyone who won the price and is planning to attend?
I'm worried about reimbursement, because they offered me the amount that is sufficient (with cheapest option) to cover my flights. All the other things (hotel, Caltrain, meals, visa) seem to be left up to me.
Is it the general rule that winners should pay by themselves or it's just my country? I'm pretty upset since I really wanted to attend sice I finally made it to the top 150... :(
How much did they offer? I've got $750 and it is not even enough to cover a flight to San Francisco...
Yes, they offered $750 as well.
My wife is also in top 150 and got offered $750 reimbursement. In her case it's not even enough to buy flight ticket.
In previous years reimbursement was fixed on 500 USD (I got offered 750 this year). Ask your university for travel support.
Also if all 150 guests would come it would make GCJ I/O prize the biggest prize among all programming competitions I know but Kaggle.
