Hello, Codeforces!

We are pleased to announce the 1st Hello India x Russia Programming Bootcamp, with Amrita School of Engineering, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in collaboration with Moscow Workshops ACM ICPC, and of course Codeforces!

The boot camps will be held from March 22nd to the 30th in both India and Russia.

We would like to bring your attention to the new Bootcamp Features: Hello India x Russia Programming Bootcamp and Moscow Workshops ACM-ICPC will be running both boot camps side by side, every day each camp will be competing in parallel, 7,500 kilometers from each other.

In India and Russia, the Coordinators of the Programming Committee will be both Gleb GlebsHP Evstropov and Michael Endagorion Tikhomirov, respectively.

A look back on our recent boot camp:

Words from Mike:

The Bootcamp will be split into three divisions:

  • Division A. Designed to prepare students to excel and win medals in the next ACM-ICPC World Finals.
  • Division B. Designed to help teams prepare for the next season of ACM-ICPC Regionals and international competitions. This is an appropriate introduction for teams and students new to the world of ACM ICPC and competitive programming competitions in general. The Division B curriculum features thematic lectures and contests.
  • Division C. Designed for newcomers to the world of ACM-ICPC competitive programming. For those with a handle on the basics but want to compete in future competitions and possible regionals, this division is the perfect starting point.

The participation fee is unchanged: €810 per person (cultural programme, accommodation and meals included).

Single participants and teams must register by January 1st, 2018 to receive the 20% off-Early Bird Discount.

What is the participation fee for India (in Rupee) ?

For Records, 810 Euros is equivalent to 61K INR in India. And 61K is the entire annual fee for the 80% of Engineering college. That was just to give the idea of the cost. Still thanks for bringing such prestigious prgoram to India, it will be definitely worth doing for the teams selected for World Finals. It is still cheaper if you compare the cost by going to Russia and attening it. :)

There were MIPT camps which now become Moscow Workshops.
Then they (with help of Harbour.Space probably) organise a camp in Barcelona.
And now Barcelona camp team organises camp in Moscow.
Am I missing something?

On first sight it just funny. On second sight it looks like scheme to decrease taxes or something.

Even if so, what's bad in it?

I checked MIPT site and now I'm a bit confused.

This page says From March 21 to April 1, 2018, MIPT will host the Moscow Pre-Finals ACM ICPC Workshop, held by Laboratory for IT-Education Development.

Your announcement says that 1st Hello India x Russia Programming Bootcamp will be held at MIPT as well.

So am I right that there will be two overlapping training camps held at MIPT this spring? How much are they going to have in common? Or is the information at MIPT site outdated and misleading? It makes sense to assume that we are talking about single event having two different names, but in this case I can't get my head around difference in timetable and price.

Also, in case these are indeed two different events — what is the motivation for people who can attend MIPT to take part in Hello India camp? Other event starts earlier, ends later, and the participation fee there is still lower.

Come on, it's quite obvious that Moscow Workshop will be held in parallel with India camp and the Moscow part is just usual camp, the organizers just came up with a new name for both events. I suppose that contests for A and B divisions will be similar (maybe adjusted for the average teams level), but there is no div C in Moscow, so problems for them will be different. But of course it's better to wait for organizers' comments.

Is it possible to know the schedule, i.e. what events will happen in the camp? If there are lectures, on what topics? Or are there only contests? I asked the same query on the "Request more info" section of the official website a week back but didn't receive a reply. I see "Training" written in the schedule but it would be nice to get some more detail as to what it includes before registering. :)

Can anyone (preferably the organisers) give more info regarding different divisions? Info in the site about each div is pretty vague. Also, is it possible to shift divisions after registering, in case a person feels something else fits better for him/her?

Hello sinus_070 ! As for the divisions, normally the participants know their level, but if they're unsure then we recommend registering as division B, but if deemed too simple, then it's absolutely possible to switch divisions.

So, they hold this camp in Russia(22k PPP USD income) at MIPT(10th QS Ranking), with most of the best coordinators/lecturers available there and charge 790 USD or 658 Euro.
Coming to India(6k PPP USD income — 4 times poorer) at Amrita University(~200 QS), few lecturers/coordinators and charge 25% more(810 Euro). Seems legit.
As a fun fact every Indian ICPC participant knows how bad Amrita is.
Why Indians have to pay 25% more combined with the fact that it is being held at a 10x worse place compared to that of Russia?
