Please correct PrinceOfPersia's last name.

He is Dehghan, NOT Deghan.

  1. mustrumr (I think he deserves that and has good chances to win it)
  2. jcvb (do I need to explain that choice)
  3. V--o_o--V (he is really experienced in such contests, maybe he can do even better than I predict)
  4. Reyna (look at his progress)
  5. yutaka1999 (also very experienced and talanted guy)
  6. LiTi (remember what happened last year)
  7. geniucos (this guy is really good in such contests)
  8. FatalEagle (he should take a revenge for last year)
  9. Enchom (he is from Bulgaria... well, I think we all know how good he is)
  10. Radewoosh (no Poland, no party)

jcvb, mustrumr, Radewoosh,V--o_o--V, yutaka1999, yeah popular guesses.

I would not underestimate yarek, he's been top2 in POI for 3 years and has even won Algorithmic Engagements 2016. Not really active on codeforces, though

It's pretty nice that for many of you Radewoosh is one of the favorites. But I guess that yarek is even stronger candidate from Poland to claim one of the top spots.

He's doing extremely well in 5 hour competitions. During the last 4 years he came 9th, 1st, 2nd and 1st in POI finals which makes him one of the best contestants ever (other contestants who won POI more than once are: Paweł Parys, Andrzej Gąsienica-Samek, Filip Wolski, Jan Kanty Milczek — you can check their outstanding results at IOI by yourself ;)). He has already won two gold medals at IOI.

And Jarek also won the last edition of Algorithmic Engagements — the first high school student to do so. He beat there mnbvmar, Marcin_smu, Radewoosh, dj3500, Solaris, ania, mareksom and others...

I keep my fingers crossed for him! :)

  1. jcvb
  2. V--o_o--V
  3. yutaka1999
  4. Reyna
  5. ko_osaga

I hope a Japanese contestant will win IOI contest some time, but yutaka1999 can have one more chance at IOI2017.

The only right prediction is jcvb being first. Still, all participants did well having in mind that this is one of the hardest competitions in the world, maybe even the hardest.

Some Chinese OIers believe that the Selection Contest of Zhejiang Province(where jcvb comes from)'s Team is harder than any other contests within China, include S.C. of Chinese Team, chances are that it can be even harder than IOI!

China has large population and there is a bigger chance for them to find better contestants than some other countries. I think that's why they make so difficult contests — they want to send the best of the best.

P.S. Can you tell me how does China pick its national team with so many contestants? :D

        a. A nobody

get a first-class prize in NOIP Senior(which means for grade 10-12, although grade 7-9 with a F-C.P in NOIP Junior can also take part in it)

        b. A Prov. Team Canditate(there're a lot. So-called "Powerful Prov." like Zhejiang can have hundreds of them)

        pass Provincial T.S.C

        c. A Prov. Team Member(5+x per prov. x seldom exceeds 10.)

win a gold medal(about 50 per year) in NOI

        d. A National Training Team Member(about 50 per year)

daily training & selection by Winter Camp

        e. Member of a smaller training team(about 15 per year)

        daily training & Chinese T.S.C

        f. A National team canditate(6 per year)

        pass audition

        g. A National team member(4 per year)

Theoritically, one can take part in NOIP Junior in Grade 7, in NOIP Senior in Grade 8 and get qualified for Provincial T.S.C, and become a N.T.T member in Grade 9.

TooDiffifuIt did it, but he failed to pass Winter Camp. If he passed it, he may become a N.T member by the time he graduate from the junior middle school.

Out of curiosity, do you know if the problems from selection contests such as the one you mentioned are available online at all?
