MaximShipko's blog

Hello!

Now you can view rating statistics for specified country and/or city on the ratings page. But there are also separate pages for rankings of the countries and the cities themselves (links to them are in the sidebar "Top rated").

Rating of a country (city) depends on participants ratings from a country (city) and calculated by the following simple formula:

where N is a minimum of 100 and number of country (city) participants, and K = 0.75.

It would be nice to present USA, United States, and United States of America as the same country

    Yep, it's discussed here.
The official answer was (in simple translation): Indeed there is a problem. Similar countries and cities will unite. Work in this direction is already underway.

Are users allowed to "fill in" their countries/cities? May be this problem would go away if users are given a drop down list of countries/cities to choose from.

How about adding schools/universities/companies of coders and the corresponding ratings?
I think many people are curious about these just as I am.

It will be more nice if adding friend feature exists besides each participant with a star or something like that. Now one can add a participant as friend by entering the profile of that participant. I am just wanted to tell the feature as like as Google Code jam style.

Thanks.

Is there a minimum member count required for a country/city to be considered showing up in rankings?

Yes, it's 2. Translation: In the ranking of countries and cities do not appear settlements, if the number of participants in them less than two.

Can you remind those who didn't fill in their country and city in their personal details to do so when they login? And make these fields required in the future too...

I think this will improve country/city ratings accuracy.

Is it possible to include 'country to represent' in addition to the country you live in?
For example, currently I live in the United States, but I would like to represent my country, Bangladesh, in the rankings.
In the profile, we only have to input the country where we live now.

Codeforces team you (rock). This is actually the very first time in my life I see somebody really looking into users requests and implementing every single one of them! If only we could see this more often around us!

Keep up the good work!
