First tip in CF community: Do not post shitposts (useless posts for the community) or else you will get — contribution

As a newbie who screwed up by first attending the April Fools' Contest (which caused my rating to drop to 0 as it was an unrated contest, instead of the 1500 rating users who have not yet participated in a contest have) I have no advice I can give you. I can however give you a warning. Blog comments are quite often toxic. Also, upper ranks have more voting power than lower ranks, for example 1 candidate master vote = 5 newbie votes, 1 master vote = 7 votes, and 1 grandmaster vote = 10 votes. (This doesn't make much difference unless you've done something to offend lots of GMs as there aren't really that many of them.) Finally, many mid- and high-rank users on this site are automatically biased against grays (newbies) and greens (pupils). There is also a setting on this website to 'Hide low rated blogs'.

When solving problems, try not to look too hard at the problem tags: a lot of problems are marked as 'binary search' or 'dp' when you can use other methods to solve them.
