Barely ANY top talent is working in education. A lot of talent is going into the AI Labs, quant, etc.
Yet education is the highest leverage domains where, unlike other industries (AI, space, energy) requiring multiple orders of magnitude progress, a 20% improvement in student learning quality, will change the world in unimaginable ways.
My friends are building an edtech startup Edexia, backed by Y combinator, and https://paulgraham.com/. If you are hardcore, obsessed with education, and this JD sounds like a calling, https://www.notion.so/Edexia-Founding-Engineer-Internship-36040bc6d1ae80129873ffa4780bedb2 please apply through [email protected] :D

That's the worst job description I have ever seen. Be ready to sacrifice everything, we will call you shit and you should thank us.
Well... that's not exactly true. There's a huge difference between joining a big organization and joining a small startup that's growing fast, and I think the JD is being read as if it were the former.
If you've been around small startup teams that actually want to win, the core founding engineers do throw everything at it, not because someone extracts it from them, but because that's the only way a 5-person team beats companies 100x their size. In SF this is pretty normal, especially for a founding engineer. The JD is written to filter for people who want that, and it's honest about it. That seems better than the alternative of pretending it's 9-5 and then surprising you in month two.
And working extremely hard early in your career makes you stronger. It's the same reason an athlete goes through a brutal training block: you don't come out of it broken, you come out of it capable of things you weren't before. There's a window where you can afford that, and it's now.
Yeah, we want you to be hardcore, but you're getting paid 750 USD per week which is 18-19 per hour.
(Also FYI as an athlete competing on the national stage, pain != growth. Overworking yourself to death causes burnout and injuries.)
I think there is a mixup here. The $750 a week is the trial, which lasts one to two weeks. The role itself pays $150K to $300K plus equity with vesting.
On the culture: I have loved working this way. It reminded me of my olympiad days, and that period gave me more than almost anything else I have done. Totally fair that it does not appeal to everyone. Some people genuinely thrive on it though, and I am one of them.
Good job guys!
Education on top
Finally, GPT written essays will be review by GPT checker
just say you're looking for a slave
A direct quote from their website. To put that into perspective that is over 12 hours a day assuming a 7 day work week. Literally worse than the infamous 996.
Assuming a 40 hour work week, paying $1000 a week is below minimum wage.
Edit: This has to be one of the most dystopian ideas I've seen. Read their full plan; they are literally advocating to get rid of libraries in favour of "AI tools, classrooms, commons, and quiet study", and they write that the "financial logic" fails if libraries are added back in. I can't even tell whether they are actually serious, or if this is some kind of social experiment to see the most unhinged idea that the Y-combinator will accept.
first-world problems
Also the idea of an AI based micro school is not even original. Alpha School has already existed for over a decade now that does practically this.
Sounds interesting!
even GPT cant write this kind of shit
the description is too weird, you are expecting top tier competitive programmers with 90 hours a week to work at your or whoever's company this is without giving them much in return when most of them can land an internship / job at Jane street or any other quant for less work, less harsh enviroment and 10x the money, and your point is that your employees should sacrifice all of the above for what you call "learning expeirence"
Hey I hope roles are open for a few weeks because I need to learn up some of the skills that will be helpful and I have recently started to prepare for competitive programming I recently dropped of all things and started to focus on cp only , what's the last date of applying is there anything like that??? I bet I can be your most hardworking asset. I am not a top class cp now but I will be more than that for your startup.I will give my 100 percent
