dont really know too much about this but i would say, is not a good idea in going for Div. 2 contest right now (With this actual elo)

I'm no professional, and I'm simply a specialist, but I can say this. I wasn't a pupil either at that point. Even if I was I had barely made it, so no worries. My suggestion is for you to keep solving harder problems. If you're okay with some level of problems, go further. Try solving harder problems rather than multiple easy problems, and don't study for 10 hours a day. Also, make sure to never burn out. After a year, I had burned out, so a 20-day break helped me a LOT. And just don't lose motivation :D

My story:

A mistake I made, which cost me a year, was that I only solved 800's and I never joined contests, pretty much. I didn't even take the time to properly solve an 800, and usually copied them. Last year, around this time, I realised it wasn't going to cut it for the olympiads. So I started solving harder and harder problems. I'm not sure if I joined contests or not, tho. I focused on quality rather than quantity, and usually solved one 1200 in 1-2 hours, and, even though in a short amount of time, I managed to get a medal. I was still was Newbie at that time, but it didn't demotivate me. After the finals, I took a 20-day break, and when I came back, I had managed to become a pupil in a couple of contests.

I can suggest three things:

1. Solve harder problems. If you find 1500 easy, do 1600 and so forth.
2. Identify weak topics. Do you always get stuck on graph problems, but find harder constructive problems easy? Work on your weaknesses
3. Improve implementation accuracy and speed. A lot of penalties can be caused by implementation errors.

Improve on these three things, and your rating will improve

To be honest, I definitely agree. The only reason I'm somewhat proud is that I somewhat KNOW I've grown better at CP. I can solve graph problems much, much faster, as long as it doesn't have DSU(I'll be working on it). I don't know why, but I really love messing up in contests, so I tend to fall because of the dumbest mistakes.

By the way, why haven't you participated in contests after becoming an expert? I have friended you because you're about my rating and I love to compete :D
