This seems like it could be a good post. Something that I found interesting is that, in order to solve the knight's tour problem on some rectangular board, you can just move the knight to a square with the least possible number of legal moves. And that works in $$$99\%$$$ of cases or something.
I also enjoyed learning about heavy-light and centroid decomposition, but I haven't seen any contest problem where you use these.
That's pretty interesting. It sounds like the opposite of what logic would tell you to do. I don't even remember the last time I saw a centroid problem.
