Hello Codeforces,

This blog is regarding the on-site centre allocation for the Amritapuri regionals of ICPC India.

In previous years, top-performing teams in the prelims were typically assigned the Bangalore site for the onsite Amritapuri regionals. This year, however, all top teams have been assigned to Kollam without being given a choice. This change poses significant logistical challenges for many participants.

For most teams, travelling to Bangalore is considerably easier and more cost-effective, and securing Bangalore as the onsite location has always been a strong incentive to perform well in the prelims.

Assigning all top teams to Kollam without an option feels unfair. Therefore, we (p1k4 and I) would like to request that top teams be given the choice to opt for the Bangalore site.

The purpose of this blog is to bring this issue to the attention of the organizers. If you agree, please support this request by emailing the organizers and by commenting “+1” along with your team name.

I computed rank-wise site allocation — it seems random. Sheet: link

How dare you blame the almighty organizers? It's obviously your fault for getting rank 1. Shouldn't have submitted F at all if you wanted Bangalore. \s

Even if going to banglore is less of a hassle, I don't think it is that big of an issue, first of all its their choice, they are organizers, cost-wise you guys would already be at Chennai so you would be going to kollam via train so I don't see much difference.

We don't have Chennai. Our college starts the day after the contest ends. We would miss 3 days from Kollam.

Our college starts even before the contest, missing 2 days of college is nothing, most of studying anyways is done 2 days before the exams only

There is still the issue of cost, as travelling back from Kollam is very expensive. (No direct train available to Delhi) Travelling to Kollam is also considerably more expensive than travelling to Bengaluru. The train tickets available are already under RAC.

If we have the opportunity to avoid missing college, we would. Deciding on our courses for the semester is a crucial matter for us, and missing these precious days is costly.

If cost is your major concern then amrita should hand out a gform collecting parent incomes of teams and then assign centres based on ITRs?

Isn't it unfair to assign Bangalore to top-performing teams? Random allocation seems the best choice.

The allocation isn't random, tho. Teams shall be given a choice, and the logical way to do that is according to the leaderboards
