I was just thinking that what is the difference of div. 2 and div. 1 + div. 2 contests? Is there a major difference between the difficulty of the problems or is it just that div. 1 + div. 2 is rated for everyone? And by the way, which one of these contests shall I participate in?

There is no difference between div. 2 of a "div. 1 + div. 2" contest and div. 2 of a "div. 2" contest, they are the same.
And as you are a newbie that were a pupil before, I recommend participating in both.
