I think you should start praciticing specifically, Practicing so much but still being stuck shows you're not learning properly. Maybe make a list of begginer topics, and solve 5-10 ez-med-hard problems of each type. At the end you should be able to solve basic questions atleast.

increase speed(give themecp or virtual div 3/4), and also solve more 1300,1400 problems. And try solving problems of newer contests as the old ones are inflated in rating if you compare them to the questions you get nowadays

first of all appreciation for 56 contest it's hard to give contest when you are not getting output , so try this thing as my rating is also not so good so i can relate but i have some experience i can share with you .. always make sure you are not watching editorial for atleast 2 to 3 hours,and solve as many problems as you can ,but solving problems which you can won't help you ok and you are giving contest are you upsolving them atleast solve upto div2 3 , and suppose you think something but you are not confident it will work or not so always implement that it's make your implementation good , give virtual contest and love cp , once you got the things rating will come up and one more thing don't give up

okay, I am not a great coder, you can check my profile, and I used to do active codeforces 3-4 years back, there are things which are same in your and my story

1. don't give a damn to what's your standings in the contest,
2. where your friends, peer stand in those standings
3. try solving / following up on remaining questions from any given contests
4. dont't limit your self to active contests, you can try as many virtual contests as possible and upsolve atleast next 1-2 problem.
5. take it easy, if its meant for you, you will be able to figure out, otherwise also you will get to know someday whether to mindlessly give contests just to boost self ego (one day I will ace...). Sometime we need to know where to book loss (low ratings) and save our capital (time) to be spent on something which we value more (maybe health! or some other skill.)
