XxFalconxx's blog

Today, I was browsing LinkedIn when I found a post where the person showcased reaching Specialist in the last contest. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7311813260473704450/

Amazed by his fast growth from pupil to specialist, i looked at his CF profile, only to find out that he had copied the submissions from somewhere else.

https://codeforces.me/profile/dreamcatcher14

My reasons for thinking he cheated in Codeforces Round 1014 (Div.2) are

-> Inconsistent coding style during contest, the header files keeps changing from every submission, the solve function name changes from sovle(), solve_case() , process_case(). The coding style in general varies a lot.

-> Solved D problem , which the highest rated coder in my college ( 2300+ rated), couldnt solve. (Ok, maybe he had a genius idea during contest).

-> 200+ problems solved of 800 rating , and only about 15-20 problems solved >=1200 rating.

Although I was not completely sure, i decided to just congratulate him on his so called "achievement" and just hinted him that i thought he cheated.

Within some time , i see my comment deleted from the post. When i commented the same thing again, i got blocked within a minute.

Not only did this guy cheat during a contest ( which surprisingly i was still fine with given the amount of cheaters nowadays), this guy has the guts to brag about it on LinkedIn. Forget about fairness during contests and all, this is just sad that someone can be so dumb to claim something that they know they dont deserve.

Idk, i just found this funny , hence wanted to make a blog on it.

UPD1: The user removed the Linkedin post. I'll just share his LinkedIn ID.

If you submitted multiple AC solutions, only the last one is AC, and the rest are skipped. He is not skipped for cheating. But he is clearly cheating anyways.

Here I have seen people getting 2000 rating just by using telegram. So that's still in lower levels :p

I do agree with your claims of him being a cheater but D was no where close to 2300 in round 1014. I could figure out an implementation heavy logic but couldn't implement it in time during contest. Post Contest, I could solve it with some help from TLE's PCD where he implemented my idea in a more generic way without needing to make 6 different cases making a shorter code. So it was just about cleaner implementation idea wasn't hard to come up with. At max that D should be around 1700-1800 (was moderate for a D). Ig it was just a bad day for the highest rated coder of your college.

Just went through your in contest submissions. Many of your codes seem to be similar to the leaked codes by CP Helper. All the codes of the last 2 contests on your profile match it. Didn't go further but i am sure I would find more if I did. Also you started having very unstable and abrupt rating changes in the last few contests and even delivered a CM like perf in Edu Round 176 after having Pupil and Newbie like perf in the rounds before. It is impossible for a lower specialist to get a CM perf in a Div 2 all of a sudden.

I also went through your linkedin to find THIS

You lied being an expert on your linkedin profile while linking a codeforces handle whose max rating is specialist that's funnier ngl. And ironically you condemning bragging on linkedin but your only post there is the one in which you became a specialist which is a brag.

Also I won't argue more because this is most probably your alt id or your friend's id whome you told to comment such stuff. You don't know the real feeling of achieving such stuff that's why when my friend told that I will be an expert after rollback I wrote it out of joy. Only God knows how could you say my rating change an abrupt change... I am probably the slowest in the college in increasing rating.

I think you should first stop assuming stuff and check the blogs I have written so far to know who am I. The only reason you don't wish to argue is because you know you are going to be screwed once anyone dives deep into your in contest submissions. I guess I'll be taking the burden of that research and releasing a list of all your contest solutions so far that match the leaked codes by the next weekend.

Also if going from 1412 to 1599 in 4 months with just 47 problems done per month is the slowest in your college then probably everyone in your college is a cheat. Due to intense cheating people can't break out of specialist in 6 months even after doing 100 good problems a month and you broke in 4 months with half the number and calling it "slow" makes it sounds sus.

Also anyone who is genuinely 1400 or above just needs to see your submissions to know that you cheat. Having a few solutions similar to the leaked ones can be a coincidence but having so many such coincidences isn't really a coincidence.

"Only God knows how could you say my rating change an abrupt change"

Not only God. Your perf graph knows it too. And now anyone seeing that image will know it too. I was all consistent till January after which you decided to take the path of cheating to gain quick rating. That's clear from this graph where you got 1800+ perf all of a sudden. You did use to give fair contests occasionally to know where you stand and at that points your perf is like pupil/newbie and then in the very next contest it exceeded expert and touched CM. It is impossible to have that huge variation in perf. You deserve a blog.

And that CM perf is from a div 2 not a div 3/4 and it is next to impossible for anyone less than 1700 to get a CM perf in a Div 2 without cheating.

Do whatever.... But it is very sad that you can't see someone doing good brother. That edu round had questions of rating 800 — 1000 — 1500, after doing 250+ 1600>= question, don't you think it is very much possible for a person to do those questions fast, being ranked 5th on the TLE leaderboard, and solved 130+ Hards(850+) on LC and being rated 2100+, I still get to hear this. The two contest where I have good perfs are these two only where in one I used tarjan's algo which was way too of a overkill but that's what I got. And in the second it was the edu round.but still do whatever you want because I won't stop to grow.

Trajan's algo was exactly what was used in the leaked solution for it and no one who is genuinely your rating think of something like that for such a simple problem.

About your Leetcode rating, if you can cheat your way up on one platform there is nothing to stop you from taking that path on another one.

Any sane coder above pupil would agree that someone your rating can't think of such overkill algorithms on your own, specially when they exactly match the leaked AI generated solutions. The very fact that you show your rating on Leetcode to prove you are fair here shows you can cheat because you value that number over other things. And good perf for a specialist is 1600-1700ish. Getting a perf of 500 points more than your rating is a clear sign of cheating, no different from a newbie beating an expert.

knowing a tough algo and that being the first idea to get in a fairly simple problem are two very different things. Specially when all the AI generated leaked ideas were the same as your out of the box unintuitive ones.

Just read the problem, and if you know slightest of the tarjan's algo, there is nothing else you can think, as far as I remember the problem was that we just had to find distance between two SCC's something like that, it was an obvious go to idea. My templates are ready even if I don't know how to implement them that efficiently.

And the newbie perf is all part of the journey, I could have cheated to not get that perf but what's the use? Bad days are all part of the journey and I will stop only after doing 100 questions of each rating till 1900.

Good and bad days are a part of the journey but having a rating fluctuation of 800 points between 2 consecutive contests isn't called being luck/unlucky. its called cheating your way to gain the rating you lost in your previous contest. If I make a blog about this incident no one from a specialist to an LGM will believe your story of having an 800 points perf difference in 2 consecutive contests without cheating. Max to max it can be 400 because at worst your perf can go 200 below your present rating and at max 200 above your present rating. do 100 1000 or whatever number of problems you want to that doesn't change the fact you cheated here.

Very disheartening to hear this, like this everyone who is totally screwed in a contest would cheat because someday someone can say that because you screwed there you can't perform well in the next contest.

Yeah D was just implementation hell. Very easy to see some sort of solution, but you get sent to indexing hell. At least for me, I knew I was going to have to debug my solution so while I was coding I put in what I needed for debugging (I updated the string) -- and this took too long for me. It's quite reasonable for a newer coder to solve it if they are particularly good at implementation (which is in line with people looking for jobs) and for older coders to brick it (implementation is rare.) Not to hate on impl problems; they are a real part of algorithms.

Small suggestions for improving the platform in terms of cheating: Instead of removing the cheaters after every contest, we can perform this operation every 6 months( because they create new accounts whenever they are caught ) & mark them on their profile. This period will waste a lot of their time. (My observation from the codechef sudden implementation of the cheating system some time back) MikeMirzayanov
