Codeforces rating system don't like me. It hurt to realize it :(
worse had 469th place (higher than some top breakthroughs), he definitely had lower rating than them, but he got less rating points. It seems quite a strange.
DmitriyH, didn't you have an idea to find pairs of participants A, B that startRatingA < startRatingB, placeA < placeB and deltaA < deltaB?. Is it common situation?
One possible explanation could be that worse's rating is more or less determined to be at that range (let's say 0 +/- 350) while for the other people the margin of error in their determined ratings could be higher (let's say 1333 +/- 450).
It would be interesting to also include matchesA < matchesB (possibly implying a larger margin of error in determining their ratings).
Yeah, it could be right, but page about rating doesn't mention anything like that (any input except old ratings and places) :(
Yes, on CF the rating is primarily based on Elo, which does not take that into account unlike on sites like Topcoder, where we can see volatility.
