Grateful to Shayan

This blog is just an appreciation post and a heartfelt thank you to Shayan. Whatever rating I have today is because of him. I started with zero knowledge of programming and used to watch his streams to learn new topics like arrays, strings, math, greedy algorithms, binary search, etc.

I was especially afraid of binary search and math, but Shayan motivated me to keep moving forward without fear. There were times when I felt discouraged, stuck on certain concepts that seemed impossible to grasp. However, his guidance and encouragement helped me push through those struggles.

Thank you, Shayan! You inspire people like me—those who are new to programming and hesitant to compete due to self-doubt and lack of confidence. Your support means a lot!

I will keep moving ahead and try my best to improve everyday.

Same here, I really wanna thank him, he is a great person, I am currently watching his "Bitmask DP" and will watch many of the others InshaAllah :)

shayan’s audience consists of 90% newbies. i wonder why? almost as if good cpers don’t rely on a borderline useless resource (watching someone explain a problem from start to finish instead of thinking for yourself / reading editorials, blogs, cp algorithms etc). watching shayan is equivalent to giving yourself the illusion that you’re learning, when you’re not.

not to mention his lack of participation in contests (last being 2020 because he knows he fell off and wants to keep his tag so he could keep farming views with it). covering contests that he doesnt even participate. doing terrible in the previous ICPC. notice how barely anyone outside of india supports this guy.

    good cpers dont watch his topic streams because they are generally introductory to the topic , and about vid solution I agree reading and trying out is better but when u are totally stuck it is a good resource to look upto , lastly there are many educators who dont give contest but teach its like football coaches who dont play but have earlier and better exposure to the game , lastly poor performance in icpc , have you been to world finals? just chill out

    There can be time when you completely stuck on exact problem, unable to make any steps in solving it, what you think: is it better to leave this problem or at least get full explanation from Shayan? Every upsolving of problem is helpful. And how his performance in ICPC affect in his tutorials? he can't be strong as you (I very doubt it), but at least he explains problem in such way, that anyone could understand it. He made more contribution for cf community, than you.

    Well, I do agree that people needing tutorials for trivial enough topics are never gonna improve. The main reason newbie/pupils don't improve precisely bcz they're lazy ass people who want a tutorial for literally anything causing them a slight inconvinience. But it's not shayan's fault, he puts proper polls in his telegram channel, it isn't his fault that most lazy ass people want topics they themselves can do if they put some effort. He does the topic with most votes and thus if you wanna hate, hate his audience who don't have the mindset needed to improve, don't hate on shayan himself.

I appreciate how dedicated he is to making these tutorials on top of being a Phd student in his own life. It must take up a lot of his free time. Moreover, I'm not sure if he's even getting any benefit from this (besides growing his youtube channel).

P.S. I do wish he officially participated in the contests he'd be reviewing though.

The last time someone wrote a blog about me was not really a pleasant experience, as you know what I'm talking about :))

I never expected anyone to appreciate what I'm doing, but I never understood the hatred either. Like how in the world I harmed anyone with creating my content.

Now, after reading this blog from you and knowing that someone was actually this much affected from what I've done, I'm reassured that I've made the right choice to dedicate time to this. Your words truly mean a lot to me.
