As a community, we deeply miss the GCJ, and while hope may seem small at this point, let's not give up just yet. Instead, let's come together and make an effort to try something new. Even if the odds are slim, taking action could lead to unexpected outcomes. It's better to attempt and see what unfolds, rather than simply accepting the current situation. After all, sometimes even the smallest steps can spark meaningful change. So let's give it a shot and see where it takes us.

While GCJ was fun, it lost some of its attractiveness (at least, for me) after switching to online judging. And we still have Meta Hacker Cup as a good replacement for the old style Code Jam.

But what was more fun (at least, in my opinion) were good old SRMs — they had a unique format (all problems are initially locked and time starts ticking only when you open the problem; challenge phase is after the round; length of the round is somewhat small — only 75 minutes) and I don't know any other platform which conducts contests with the same rules.

I would be up to sign a petition in support of reviving SRMs.

But maybe misof can shed some light if there're any plans to revive SRMs in the near future?

If Google reinstates GCJ I promise to return all of the travel plug adapters that I've carried out of the LON-6PS office over the years.

Petition do not work. This change.org site simply capitalize on collecting people and promoting petitions.

If you want something to be done, generally, the best way is to try doing it yourself. Look at the example of Codeforces itself which was created mainly with will and skill of a single person (though with help, aid and assistance of many others).
