It seems everyone is in the know that Codeforces Beta Round#3 didn’t take place in the appointed time. Seemingly, it happened because of the increased popularity of the site, on the one hand, and some of our bugs, on the other. For sure, it’s a pity that things went in such a way. On the other part, if everything had failed during the contest, it would have been worse. The contest is rescheduled for Sunday, 15:00 (Moscow time). Please be sure to check here for the start time in your time zone: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?&day=07&month=03&year=2010&hour=07&min=00&sec=0&p1=179

I’d like to remind you that the project is in Beta yet, and we’ll work on the problem and try to fix it.

Thanks for your understanding,
MikeMirzayanov

It would be great if you published a "post-mortem" explaining what was the culprit.

Could you please change the Round #3 time? because the TCHS's ( topcoder high school ) contest is at march 6th at 8:00 PM ( in your time ) and codeforce round #3 is at 7:30 PM. I think many of the contestants would like to take part in TCHS to qualify for the next rounds. ( also COCI contest is at that day , 5:00 PM )
thanks.

I believe that Russian morning is night (or early morning) in Europe.

It's better to say "Moscow morning":) 15:00 MSK or 16:00 MSK are reasonable times in Europe, Asia, Africa and even in Brazil and Argentina, especially if we talk about the Sunday. So, if your goal is to satisfy the majority of participants, there is no reason to care about the Nothern America:)

Any chance you may reopen the registration to allow those who cannot compete on weekdays to do so this weekend?

I vote for evening at work days. I'm sure some people have plans for weekend and won't be able to compete at that time.
And work days are perfect for most of people.

I'm not sure. Because there is very short time period when you are free in work days (I think between 17:00 and 21:00). But contestants from other time zones will not be in the same time period. It will be working day in Europe and too late in China.

Can you de-register me... its not working for me.. 4:00AM

Nerevar : why not care about N.America? TC should not care about Russia, how about that?

I dont think 5:00 AM MSK contests is the way TC cares about Russia :)
But I do believe there will be 2 types of contests on Codeforces: one type comfortable for russians and chineese and another for NA. Unfortunately its impossible to choose the time comfortable for everyone.

Yea, its impossible. But I asked to be unregistered because before it was at 8:30 AM, and it was ok, and that's why I registered.

Last tc match was at 4:00 AM for NA. The way they care is that they have 3 types(I think) of SRM.

Russia occupies 11 time zones :) It is almost impossible to satisfy everyone here ;) Speaking seriously: I wanted to say that we should ignore NA if we want to satisfy the majority of participants. But sometimes (maybe 2 or 3 times rarely) we have to schedule competitions for the times appropriate for participants from NA. It depends only on the number of participants from the particular region, not from our attitude to US or Canada:)
