Hello, very recently stefdasca's 2 predict blogs got deleted by (presumedly) MikeMirzayanov, along with all of his comments in the last 48 hours, and he was muted. The first predict blog was never censored till now which makes it even more strange.

This is part of a wider censorship scheme caused by the outrage over the goodbye 2023 round. I would ask Mike to kindly give his reasoning as to why he felt Stefdasca's predict blogs were against the rules.

UPD : Thanks Mike for a quick reply and promising to rectify the solution. I am sorry for presuming it was done by you.

I personally disliked his prediction blogs. I felt he was just making logical predictions based on the current graph of the user, (which anyone could do?). But cant see any logical reasoning behind censoring his blogs.

fr it seemed kinda like astrology for codeforces but still no reason to take down his blogs and ban him.

I just got muted for 48 hours too for who even knows what. And many people are being muted for no apparent reason too. This is Orwellian and I bet George Orwell took this situation as inspiration for writing 1984 (he had a time machine).

Recent content deletion can occur if any recent comment/blog violates community guidelines. So, it might have nothing to do with the blog itself but maybe some other comment (ofc i dont know for sure)

This is what stefdasca commented right before getting banned.

It was in errorgorn's blog and he said 2 or 3 things

    • what errorgorn did is by no means his fault and coordinators should follow his example of coordinating
    • problems such as G and H shouldn't ever be in doubt with such little time before contests
    • coordination/problem preparation rules should be respected more seriously

I don't think this in any way violates guidelines.

It wasn't me who did this. And I believe that such entertaining content can have a place here. One of the other administrators (I won't specify who exactly) reacted. I can understand him, as there were a lot of complaints sent about this post.

I apologize to stefdasca for how this turned out.

I will try to revoke the ban, but we don't have an automated process to do so. I'll try to get it done before the new year.

UPD 1: I removed read-only mode and returned blog posts but unfortunately I can't do the same with comments.

UPD 2: One more try to remove read-only mode. It is a manual untypical process, so I didn't get it right on the first try.

Years before I posted a blog (I've still got the link) asking the community what is their favorite data structure. Just then I revisited my blog archive and was shock to find that the blog was gone. As if it had never appeared before, which is sad, as there were many insights regarding DS choice in the comment section there.

In the future, if blogs are deleted by moderation, I believe a copy should be kept in the poster's draft, to say the very least. A DM from system should also be sent so that at least the poster knows what happened.

As others have noted, stefdasca has informed me that he's still in read-only mode. The whole situation is fairly shocking to me; given that there's nothing wrong with the blog (and it's more relevant to competitive programming than many other blogs anyway), no number of complaints should be enough to have it deleted, or especially to restrict stefdasca's privileges. I hope that this administrator will use better judgment in making future moderation decisions.

More generally, this and similar instances are a good reason to promote greater transparency in moderation. I have the following suggestions:

    1. Except in extreme situations (e.g. spam blogs with no engagement, extremely profane/graphic blogs, etc), blogs should not be deleted entirely. Instead, administrators should be able to lock blogs, preventing anyone from commenting on them (and perhaps hiding them from the sidebar), in order to preserve the post history for transparency while still shutting down threads when necessary.
    2. Deleted comments should be replaced with a placeholder (e.g. on Reddit, deleted posts simply read "[deleted]") rather than removing the comment entirely. This also improves transparency, but it serves a more important practical purpose of ensuring that any replies don't get deleted.

A lot of us (users, not administrators) have been trying to get Codeforces to implement or at least consider suggestions similar to the ones you mentioned related to content deletion: using a placeholder and removing content while preserving the structure of the content tree on a blog (in case of moderation/content deletion).

I wonder when this finally gets implemented, since lots of people both higher-/lower-rated than me have also been finding their voices being left unheard on this topic.

Instead, administrators should be able to lock blogs, preventing anyone from commenting on them (and perhaps hiding them from the sidebar)

      Suggestions on refining this system:

      • Closed: The post is no longer accepting new comments, edits to the post goes into draft (so only admins and the original poster can view it), but votes still can be cast.
      • Locked: The post is no longer accepting new interactions, votes cannot be cast, and the post content may not be edited.
      • Hidden/Suppressed: The post is set to private and moved to the creator's draft.
      • Deleted: This should only be used when severe legal problems occur (for example, someone posted other's private information in the comment section). The post is completely nuked, as if it had never appeared before.

Posts with any type of flags will not appear in recent actions until such flag is removed.

The community may place flags on posts to have it closed or locked. Closed posts may be reopened at the original poster's appeal (for example, they may have removed unfriendly wording so the post is acceptable now). Giving posters a chance to correct themselves is important because some of them might be new to the community or unintentionally abusive to certain groups (especially when cultural differences and language barriers are accounted for). Assume Good Faith is important.

Multiple Locked or Hidden posts will grant you a ban from using the community. While you may still submit solutions, you may not participate in community interaction anymore.

Thank you so much for the quick action! It took a bit longer than expected but later is better than never too.

I can see why would some people take some of my entertaining posts in a bad light but I was a bit surprised to see everything disappear given that the first time I had this blog no such thing happened.

Anyways once again thank you for rectifying the situation and I wish you a happy new year!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone remember sus? The guy made some funny posts and then deleted them and dissapeared. What if there is a connection between this event and sus's dissapearence?

I don't mean to say someone banned him but I would appreciate if anyone could just say: "He deleted the posts because he did not like them anymore and quit CP because he did not enjoy problem solving" or some other reason.

This stuff with the banning/muting because of fun is not nice and I hope this stuff does not happen without a real reason. (I also hope that me asking this question does not get me muted/banned)
