Hello Codeforces!
I started coding in class 11. In my country, I only have one attempt to participate in International Olympiad in Informatics. IOI is my dream. Is it possible for me to participate in IOI 2023? If so, please suggest how can I prepare for IOI in one year. I know it sounds weird to prepare for IOI in one year. But please please suggest, how can I prepare for it. I am a pupil in my main Codeforces account. I am ready to work hard.
What country are you in? If it is a more powerful country, this is completely impossible. What foundation do you have? If it is just newbie, it is unlikely to succeed. It's too late. To put it mildly, I advise you to give up. Too many people start earlier than you.
You absolutely CAN, but it depends on how much time and effort you can afford. Me personally, I went from Newbie (0) to Pupil (1363) in 3 months — I did not try really hard — so I think you can be Candidate Master after a year.
Hope this helps! You may be discouraged but don't give up!
no
Basically nobody is able to predict if it's possible or not. People have made similar jumps before, but it's impossible to know if you could replicate that. Even if we had every single bit of information about you, it would still be as random as a dice roll.
If you were asking for recommendations on how to prepare for IOI, I'm only an expert (and certainly haven't qualified for IOI lol) so I might not provide the best advice. Personally, I think CPH is great for expanding algorithmic knowledge. You might want to also work through the CSES problemset to practice implementing standard concepts (the problems go hand in hand with CPH). And of course, practice problems that are slightly above your skill level from a few different online judges.
Best of luck in whatever you hope to achieve!
Ask yourself only one question: will you enjoy it?
If you have the goal of making it into the ioi team, but you feel as though you won't really enjoy / learn / grow from the process, I recommend you don't do it, because you'll quickly lose motivation, and what's the point of doing something you don't like.
However, if you love doing cp, and enjoy discovering new algorithms and tricks, go for it, because even if you don't get to ioi, you'll still have fun along the way.
best of luck!
In China, if you want to participate in IOI (in recent years), you actually need to learn programming for 6~7 years. (starting from 10 or 11 years old) :P
It's impossible.
Unless you are jiangly or tourist
