hello all, i have a collection of concerns with the modern state of our platform.

today i would like to state my (and many others') distaste for the material that is currently being taught to our newbies. i think we should agree to keep this eastern agenda out of our official contests to preserve community culture.

On another note, i think we should remove div 1+2 contests because they tend to redistribute rating in favor of lower rated participants. We should stick to strict div 1 and div 2 contests and allow the rating to trickle down traditionally.

Mike, can you please remove the change handle feature? i think users should appreciate and stick to the handle assigned at account creation. i think allowing people to change their handles every christmas is a disgrace to the name.

did you know codeforces is based off of a true story? in 1948 there was a man named com "pete" tetiva program ming who was forced to climb trees to earn rat rings. he passed away in 1990 after achieving 3000 rat rings achieving himself the leg and dairy grand faster title. in 2000, the geneva conventions outlawed the unfair treatment of tree climbing as a form of torture, and in 2009 codeforces was made to honor his name.

aaa_Pigeon2 my friend, let us combine together and create a round. I am sure with your connections and my expertise we can create the best round the platform has seen.

I have some plans in mind. The round will be 4 hours long and feature 3 problems. One problem will be interactive, and another should be communication. The final problem will be an interactive communication problem. There will be no test cases except for the one given, and hacks will be used primarily to validate. All of the problems must be about trees.

I think that instead of just doing a simple div1 + div2, we should have it across the four divisions, using 12 unique problems. We should have them in order, so if someone AKs their contest it is likely they can participate in the next division.

I think the unique style of the questions could make it resistant to AI, making it a blast from the past and the greatest contest of today.

on another note, does anyone have experience pocket solving? that is, discreetly solving problems, as to not get caught, such as in a public setting. my teachers will get me in trouble and i need to improve.

192 days ago I would have never thought I would be this close to completing codeforces.

299 problems solved. Just shy of 300, which is just shy of 301, which is just shy of 302, which is...

...just shy of 9,998, which is just shy of 9,999, which is just shy of 10,000.

Now that I am close to completing codeforces, I have a few comments on what makes a good problem,

Please do not include heavy math in problems. Topics like Chinese remainder theorem and long division are too complicated for someone new to understand without 10 years of practice.

Please make all problems interactive. Interactive problems are the most creative in my opinion, and its odd we haven't had a fully interactive contest yet.

Only use one test case that is given to the participant. Having multiple test cases can result in the infamous WA2, which is not the fault of the participant, but at the fault of the problemsetter.

Hopefully this can help some people write problems.

Hello again codeforces, we need to have a talk about the current state of contribution farming. I have noticed that lately, some users (that I will not explicitly name) have been farming upvotes, using the topic of AI and cheaters to do so, and it is simply something I cannot stand for. As codeforces' most truthful author, I want it to be clear that I will not post something agreeable simply for it to be agreeable. I make an effort to post thought provoking blogs that will spark creative thinking and interaction between commenters. When I see blogs doing the bare minimum yet being agreeable as possible to farm contribution, it makes my blood boil.

hello codeforces! as tonga's first expert, i would like to announce the unnofficial first tongan computing olympiad. this will take place on march 19th, 2031.

these are all the topics that will be covered: dp, trees, binary search, chinese remainder theorem, combinatorics, breadth first search. all of the problems are guaranteed to cover at least 3 of these topics.

in person attendance at tonga will be mandatory.

a score of less than 99% on the entrance frq will result in immediate disqualification.

all of the problems will be interactive communication problems.

it doesnt seem alphabetical and it doesnt seem by rating or contribution

hello, i'm wondering how to confirm if a user that seems suspicious is a cheater (obviously theres no way to be sure, but just to be more confident). i saw apersonref's preformance on the last contest (div3), getting a WA1 on A, failing to solve E, and im not sure if im correct in calling them a cheater. if anyone has better advice in how to spot cheaters, would you be open to telling me? just what are some general signs and stuff?

Seriously, are you a runtime error? A segfault in the human language compiler? Imagine spending your precious CPU cycles crafting a beautiful explanation, laying out your thoughts with the clarity of a competitive programmer optimizing their bitsets, and the only response you get is "what".

Like, excuse me, is your brain currently experiencing buffer overflow? Did you accidentally AND your listening skills with zero? Maybe if I rephrased this explanation as a Codeforces editorial starring your beloved bitset waifu, you'd suddenly comprehend everything. Honestly, next time someone hits me with a "what," I'll just reply, "Sorry, buddy, didn't know your attention span had a time complexity of O(1)."

hello speedforces! one of the primary issues i have with contests is the uncertainty of placement/rank. in edu scoring, placement/rank can be especially uncertain when you have negs on lower problems (as in the case in the recent div3). not only this, but it HEAVILY discourages entering contests late, as it almost guarantees you will have the highest penalty for your solves. to minorly help both of these and make div3/div4 contests more welcoming, what if your penalty was determined by only one problem, your latest solve (or maybe not depending on how many negs you have)?

me, and many other pupils are able to solve div2C, and with reasonable speed (i vary, and i will admit when i go fast it is a decently high placement, like top 2k, but that doesnt invalidate my question) but still struggle to even get out of low-mid pupil preformances. im just wondering if this has always been the standard or is because codeforces has gotten more competitive. the jump from div2c to div2d is decently big, at least algorithmically, so for solving a-c every contest to end up in pupil can be demotivating if i didnt enjoy solving regardless.

like bro the given test cases wont even work for my code so its kinda scary its either i get it first try (because im the goat) or i give up
